Great pizza, and we had the place to ourselves during the late afternoon. For some reason I can’t seem to just order a pizza off the menu and always seem to want to change something, so they were very accomodating with my request of jalepeano swapped for peperoni. Had a lovely bottle of red wine to accompany it, shared. Lively music, that reminded me of Monday nights in the Ritz in the late 90s, but not too loud. Indeed the place is adorned with pictures of Morissey and other musicians. A laid back vibe, and a great place to spend a birthday meal for a mate. A great addition to Salford, and the area near the Chimney Pot estate.

This is just a review about drinks as we didn’t eat at Monty’s(but from what we could see the food looked good and the service fairly quick). We popped in after dining elsewhere on a Friday evening. It’s a fairly small place and there were no tables free so we were offered one in the back room — I think this was meant to be a staff area but fine with us. We later moved into the main restaurant area. I was pleasantly surprised by the beer selection — as well as local options such as Seven Bro7hers they had some really good breweries from further afield such as Meantime. Prices were decent too. The staff were all really friendly, especially the waitress who was up and down the stairs all evening(that’s where the kitchen is) and offered us some Quality Street at the end of the evening. Would like to return for food, and just wish the place was a little bigger!

Although I have eaten well at Monty’s on several occasions, today’s afternoon service was abysmal. First off, the usual chilled-back ambience was broken by a party of small children running around screaming. I waited 40 minutes for a cold burger and undercooked onion rings. Granted, Waitress A apologised and obliged when we asked for the burgers to be heated up. Microwave heating, although heating up the food, did nothing for the quality. The patty was crumbly, the bacon was chewy and not at all crispy. The underside bun was wet and boiling hot due to the microwaving-making it impossible to pick the burger up. I felt like I was eating a Rustlers, which at a price of £8.50 should not be the case. The horrible atmosphere and sub-par food were then topped off by Waitress B who, when I explained the meal had been below the standard I usually expect from Monty’s, said ‘Well you ate it all so it can’t have been that bad’. I really like Monty’s but if the standard is this low in future I won’t be giving them a third chance.

I visted this Saturday at lunchtime with family and slightly disappointed pizzas didn’t start until 3pm. Nevertheless we opted for the Brunch Menu and I chose a Full English Breakfast. After a long wait our food arrived lukewarm/cold. I have visited Monty’s on a number of occasions and the pizzas are delicious and choice of beer great(try the Seven Bro7hers IPA and the Alhambra on tap). My main points are: — — service is very slow which is no reflection of the one waitress who should get a certificate of acheivement after every shift or a very large beer! She works VERY hard with the kitchen being upstairs — please get a service bell or cheap intercom system instead of the chef shrieking SERVICE from the kitchen upstairs, better communication would help everyone! — in an ideal world invest in a dumb waiter if you are only going to have one waitress serving, attending the bar, going upstairs everytime food is ready, preparing desserts and clearing tables(she’s not superhuman!). Bearing in mind Monty’s is a relatively new business it has a great concept and nice feel to the restaurant, it just needs some fine tuning. Tip: Monty’s offer a deal 2 Pizza’s and a bottle of wine for £20(check the offer is still on their Facebook page). Worth a visit but don’t go if you are in a hurry!

Bit disappointed with today’s visit to Monty’s. It’s been a few months since we’ve been here and we’ve come to check out the breakfast menu. Monty’s do cook a good full English, but anyone can do that can’t they? Today I ordered the Eggs Royal, and after a very lengthy wait it eventually arrived with hollandaise that had far too much vinegar in it and eggs that were over cooked and cold. The best thing about my breakfast was the cappuccino. I’m intrigued to see if the pizzas are still as good as they used to be since the menu has more than doubled in size. Perhaps Monty’s had got a bit big for it’s boots? Don’t offer things if you can’t do it well. Stick to what you’re good at.

Went today for brunch. Yet again fantastic service and food. Worth going just for the coffee. This is the best place in Salford.

Well, what a diamond of a place! Exactly what Langworthy Road has been waiting for. Montys is a lovely chilled out bar with a great selection of beers, cocktails and superb food. I must confess I’ve been several times so I’ve worked my way across their menu. Delicious pizzas, burgers and nachos, there just seems to be something new every time I head down. Good selection of wines, the locally brewed and continental bottled beers are excellent, however, my «usual» has to be cool pint of Alhambra, a cracking Spanish lager that leaves the Carlings and Carlsbergs of the world quivering in it’s wake. They do a great brunch menu at the weekend offering pancakes, Eggs Benedict, and the best English Breakfast in Salford(as well as many other brekkie favourites), all brought to you by the lovely staff. For a friendly atmosphere, great food & drink and a cool and eclectic playlist on the go, head down soon.
