ASDA have 2 stores in Rochdale, this is by far the larger and better branch, but still it lacks selection on certain items, such as the gluten free area compared to other stores such as Harpurhey, SportCity and Ashton, which are both in the area. This ASDA store has a café, pharmacy and other facilities. On my visit, it was packed with students, with Rochdale Sixth Form and Hopwood Hall being directly next to here, which made it seem busier, with large queues in and around the café, which means — If you want to avoid students, and get a quieter shop done on a working day, this probably isn’t the place for you. This store is situated next to Currys PC World, and is in a fairly good location, quite central in Rochdale. The range is lacking so much, especially in the gluten free areas both frozen and more«sweet» «non-frozen goods», which makes it even less appealing than a Tesco Express or other smaller stores, which is a shame. The range for most other items is average /poor, which still remains slightly disappointing for ASDA, compared to other stores mentioned. For a local supermarket, this is okay, but really to have a better selection you need to go further out, meaning this supermarket is quite poor and definitley not worth a visit, if you can’t go somewhere else!

Although the prices may be cheap and easy enough, the layout of the shop is certainly the opposite. This shop used to be fantastic, but recently they’ve employed new, ignorant, lazy staff and mixed all the aisles up.

I’m not really sure what constitutes a good supermarket, at the end of the day all of the major ones sell the same things but with their own name on half of the things they sell. Of the three we shop at i’d put Asda in the middle, sometimes I enjoy a shop here, and other times It can be a frustrating experience. We had two pretty bad experiences in this branch in it’s early years of operation, and for the life of me I can’t fully remember what they were about, something to do with pizza and the other one was to do with a surly cashier, each time we vowed never to set foot inside the place again, yet we still go there because you can’t get away from the fact that they are a pretty good company value wise. One thing I will say though is that I get peed off when I read reviews of other Asda stores in other areas that sell a lot more cooler stuff and have a bigger range of things in general. Why can’t they all sell the same things?

this used to be my favourite supermarket. Then they muddled all the aisles up, decided to carry less stock and reduce the number of departments. At the same time they called in the most unhelpful and grumpy staff in the area just to add insult to injury. I rarely go there now. apart from buying their petrol, which is almost always the cheapest around.
