Whether you are in town for touring or long stay the Red Cow is real vfm and don’t shout it out in case the Yupsters get WoRd but the skinny is … Richmond is the new Notting Hill … you heard it here first peeps. The Red Moo was my local for a bit and was right next to the flat i was renting. I have also parked up here a few times for trips to Twickenham Rugby internationals and night out in the smoke. Am returning here June 28th as we are using it as a base for The Calling Festival at Clapham Common. It is close to the festival but far enough away that the usual price escalation does not apply. Travel tips, Bus stop opposite will take you straight in to Putney/Clapham every few mins and if you want to use rolling stock it is situated a few minutes walk from the back of Richmond Station which has overground and underground to get you in to London Town in 15 minutes. Also handy for the brilliant Richmond Park just around the corner. Fancy a glug overlooking the Thames? then head down the hill for 5 minutes to the Pitcher & Piano and go in to the top bar(entrance right alonside Richmond Bridge) with it’s tiny balcony. Snaffle a teeny tiny table 4⁄2 and park up to crowd watch the mayhem on the huge Pimms patio below. I would pay for a show like this … The Bedrooms are traditional with soft beds, wooden floors and Liliputian en-suite(don’t bring your cat), SKY on tap, WiFi is free throughout and the bar has regular live music nights. Food is not too nifty but you can always nip out the back and across the road to The White Horse if you want to fancy it up a bit. My favourite bit is the breakfast served every morning at the lal kaff(Café Nano) across the road. A brilliant, cooked to order, English breakfast with all the trimmings and a jug of fresh juice and pot of chai.

Nice sunny and bright corner pub with a slightly unusual layout that I rather liked. There is some nice outside space out by the kerb too. There was a screen in-obtrusively churning out sports results like it was financial news My Ale, Twickenham Naked Ladies was OK, but nowhere near as exciting as it sounds!

I really enjoyed my stay with the folks at The Red Cow. They were attentive without being obvious, very kind. The room was lovely and well appointed, I especially appreciated the large closet and en suite(being an American :)). If you are noise sensitive you might find the road noise or pub below(at least during the footie) distracting, but it is, after all, a pub, and that is part of the charm. I will be back!

Went here on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. Live band and great atmosphere. Sell a range of ales and lots of lagers. The Distinction Ale is well worth trying. Also been here for a meal and it was a little bit average to be honest.

This used to be a regular haunt of mine and I remember with great fondness the many drunken nights and afternoon’s I spent there. A real local’s pub situated a short walk from the shops and attractions of Richmond. You may want to watch the football or rugby or the boxing etc, generally this pub will be showing it and it gets very busy which leads to a great atmosphere and good times for all. Run for many years by Tom, a friendly and welcoming host, he will always show you a good time. Good honest food and a real«London» pub, you will get to know the locals if you go often enough and become a friend of the pub. They also have a few nice rooms up top if you want to stay over in Richmond and make a week-end /short stay to discover the many attractions on offer in or near Richmond.

Appealingly-decorated pub featuring sludgey neutral tones with covetable, old, London Transport posters promoting the joys of Richmond. There are plenty of interestingly diverse little seating areas; if you want to watch sport you’ll need to place yourself close to the entrance. However, it comes into its own when there’s a live gig here: very animated and friendly — if a little close for comfort when too many enthusiasts feel the urge to get up and dance I visited on a Saturday night with a large group; luckily we managed to reserve the comfortable seating area at the back — a banquette/sofa with a tapestry/kasbah theme and lots of taupe leather cubes — much to the envy of many other punters. We enjoyed dipping into the sharing platters, although they were far from memorable or exceptional, they served their purpose and fitted the bill perfectly for a chilled weekend evening. Three and a half stars…

Around halfway between Richmond and North Sheen stations, and perched on Sheen Road with a precariously thin pavement, The Red Cow is a good bet if you’re desperately scouring Richmond for a place to see some live sport. From cricket to football, rugby to F1(yawn…well maybe not next week), it’s all on here. The pub has an interesting long thin layout, all one room but with an old central bar arrangement, which I really like. There’s a good mix of young and old regulars, and some outside seating too — although Sheen Road is so busy you probably don’t want to sit there. The Youngs is reasonably well kept although as ever the choice isn’t mind blowing, bitter and special are always on, and maybe a guest.
