This is a very busy store. I got my hair cut here a few weeks ago there were two of us in the store with 6 chairs, however; they put me in the one chair next to the cash register. It was a little intense sitting there, betting bumping by customers buying products and massages. And no one introduced themselves to me so I wasn’t quite sure who was cutting my hair. They did all the typical aveda things, oil head massage and pushing the tea which was nice. What was not nice was the no warning that they were out of hot water while washing my hair. And the hair cut while not bad was not what you expect from a place like this or from what I asked for. I ended up getting a trim, which I could have got at anywhere and the stylist did not even touch my layers even though I asked for it twice. She was busy colouring someones elses hair while doing my cut. At one point while blowing out my hair she left me with a brush stuck in my hair for a few moments. While not a disaster, I will not go back.

Being in desperate need of a haircut(when I say desperate I mean looking like Kramer from Seinfeld), and having been turned away from the usual salons I go to in Richmond due to a lack of appointment, I made a last ditch attempt by walking into Red Chat. The salon is branded Aveda, and the clientele milling around inside was slightly intimidating: Manicured Richmond yummy mummies perusing an array of Aveda products. I asked hopefully if there was any chance of getting a haircut, and was seen to immediately. Far from the usual rapid wash, cut and dry, they really took their time with a head massage, aromatherapy, herbal tea and a very satisfactory wash and cut. I was pleasantly surprised that the bill was less than what I’d usually pay at Toni & Guy. Definitely recommended, though parking in Richmond is a bit of a pain unless you use the multi-story NCP down the road.
