I booked a table for a post theatre meal quite far in advance but when my friend and I arrived at the restaurant we were given a horrible table even though there were plenty of others available. I asked if we could sit somewhere else and they obliged, but why didn’t they just do that in the first place, especially since I had booked? It was a bad start but I’m pleased to say it was the only hiccup of the night. Our waitress was lovely, the food was very good and the wine was delicious all for a decent price. To start, I ordered the smoked mozzarella ravioli which didn’t appear to be anything but vegetarian but the first bite told me it wasn’t veggie at all and my carnivorous friend agreed, so I asked the waitress and she assured me it was vegetarian. Then I really enjoyed it. For secondi I ordered the fungi misti, also good and flavoursome. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the first impression.

We’re from out of town and took our daughter to Jamie’s for her 18 birthday dinner. The staff and the décor are very nice, but the food was a disappointment. I’m not sure whether it was the scallops or the pâté, but both my husband and I suffered with food poisoning after our meal.

I have been to the Jamie Oliver restaurant in Richmond, London on two separate occasions. The first time was back during the winter when C and I decided to do dinner and drinks after work one night and ended up at Jamie’s. The second was with a group of work colleagues as an impromptu end of term dinner. C and I quite enjoyed our meal the first time. Our meal began with a shared starter of the Worlds Best Olives(£3.50) as recommended by a colleague of ours and boy was she and the title of the dish on the money that it was a delicious starter. So delicious that when I went back in May I ordered it again then. I also the first time to Jamie’s ordered a Bellini(£6.50) and it was a delicious little drink to have with my meal to unwind after a long day at work. For my main the first time I had the gnocchi as it had been far too long since I last had some and while it was nothing amazing it was a solid attempt at gnocchi and I could not fault them. The second time I went I had the Vegetable Rotolo al Forno(£10.75) and was not impressed with the dish that greatly. C on our second visit ordered a Fiorentina pizza(£10.95) and too was not super impressed with the second visit. For desert when I went with C the first time I ordered some tea along with the Panna Cotta for myself and C ordered a slice of pie. Both of the deserts were nice but nothing to rave home about. I would have to say that I hold Jamie’s back in Australia in a much higher regard than I do for Jamie’s in the UK with regards to value for money, freshness of food and general dining experience. If you are an Aussie coming from Australia do not expect Jamie’s over here to be the same as it is back home.

Just down a small road opposite the green, a lovely looking restaurant done up very nicely! A pretty basic menu, there wasn’t much on it. The chef’s create 2 or 3 different specials every day I think to add something new but the main menu isn’t all exciting. We had the Arrancini Balls and they were delicious and the Anti Pasti was divine! The mains not quite so, I had the carbonara which was not very nice at all, it was far too salty and just lacked in flavour. The spaghetti bolognese was good but nothing too exciting again. We also had one of the specials which was the sea bass and that was lovely! Perfectly cooked and it was on a bed of salad so you couldn’t go wrong there. The staff were so lovely though, very accommodating! We said we didn’t like the carbonara and they offered us a desert on the house, as there was nothing really wrong with the carbonara I was quite surprised they did that! The puddings were yummy! Just standard of a chain store but they were good! We got to pay the bill and the staff had taken off all our deserts and my carbonara which I couldn’t believe! The staff were amazing!

Food was fine, I had a turkey dish that had nearly a punnet of baby tomatoes over it and pomegranate which was rather weird. Not sure who came up with that and the view was shared by the diners I ate with. There was a party of 12 of us. The staff were simply brilliant and nothing was too much effort. They had free WIFI too and even let me charge my phone as it was dying! The bread with the antipasti was off the scale deeeliisshhhh. Overall not a bad shout and will return for another group gathering :)
