Markets itself as higher-end, but its pretty average. The restaurant has all sorts of lotions’n potions included in the courses — I’m trying to think of a mild version of ‘you can’t polish a turd’, which would be far too harsh. The superfast wifi is more akin to dial-up, maybe its a retro twist they’re aiming for. Shocking price for what you get.

5÷2÷14− Note the previous brilliant restaurant manager(Lisa McManus) left last year. I’m knocking a star off for poor communications and deducting a sum of money from my Amex card without my permission, and not being able to explain what it was for was when challenged. The event was on the 29÷12÷13, and I noticed the amount(£37.20) on my statement on the 6÷1÷14. I immediately contacted the hotel. I was told the person who could deal with this wasn’t at work, and they would take a message and pass on. Two weeks later, and still no response, so I contacted again on the 20÷1÷14, to be told the same thing. This time I iterated the importance and the fact that it was my second call. I left it until Wednesday 22÷1÷14, and was told that the person was on a training course, and it would be highlighted to them. That day I received a call from the person. Stating that they had not been given the message dating back the 6÷1÷14. They said they would check to see what the amount was for, and get back to me. They did, and said that they could find no record. We agreed that I would send a copy of the statement showing the amount. I also confirmed my new e-mail address as I was changing ISPs at the time, and sent the details from my old account, and my new account to the person. He said he had given the detail to the accounts’ department. I raised a query with AMex, and they placed the amount as in dispute. I heard no more, and wrote on w/c the 27÷1÷14, that if I hadn’t heard by 31÷1÷14 then I would escalate to the owners. I received no reply. On Monday 3÷2÷14 I contacted the accounts’ department. The person I spoke with was very helpful, and told me that he had instigated a refund on the 24÷1÷14, and that he had e-mailed me. I had received no e-mail. It turns out that the other person had not forwarded my e-mail address, but had just told them what they thought it was… The address was incorrect. The person in the accounts” department said they would resend. This didn’t work as it turned out that their e-mail system was down. The person used their personal e-mail address to forward a copy. This worked, and I checked with Amex that the amount had been credited, and this was confirmed. See my latest review of their carvery below. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Previous review removed due to the limitation of 5001 words. Visited 29÷1÷13 4 adults, 2 children, and two infants. Total Bill including wine: £88.15 Carvery prices: 4 x Adults = £55.80 2 x Juniors = £15.90 Meat was good… The selection of starters varied and good. Disappointing vegetables(overcooked), and the roast potatoes had a strange taste.
