Discovered Wings after having a craving for fish and chips after moving to Caversham. This place is very no frills, great fish and chips without all the kebabs and other stuff. Just fish, chips, mush peas and a few battered sausages and pies. The couple who run it live upstairs I think, and it is very much cash only here(when you see the till you will understand…). Mr Cod seems to have sprung up all over town but it’s just awful. Definitely go to Wings.

A real fish & chip shop — no doner kebabs, piri-piri — just what chippies are supposed to do. And this one does it right. Cooked to order, one serving feeds two comfortably and the park benches across the street make for great al-fresco dining.

Wings is a small shop in Caversham with no dining room. Your food is prepared right in front of you, including large pieces of fish(cod, haddock, or plaice) and a very large serving of chips — all for about 5 pounds. The chips are too many for one person, so I recommend only getting fish for the second person if two are eating. You will be asked if you want salt and vinegar on the fish and chips before it is wrapped up in butcher paper and presented to you in a bag to bring home. Great food at a great price — I highly recommend it on a night you don’t feel like cooking at home!

This is a better than average Fish and Chips shop. If I’m going to buy myself a fish supper of an evening this is where I come(and that involves a short drive). It’s very much a family run place with Ma working the till and dishing up the food, Pa working the fryer and their son fetching the Mushy Peas. I’m fairly sure that most of the reading material also comes via the son, being as it’s largely made up of old computer games magazines. Consistently decent, friendly and with street parking near by.
