The Royal Oak is a smallish Gastro pub but it does not feel cramped. The menu is varied and of a good quality. My started was the feta cheese and Parma ham salad. It was nice but there was too much feta cheese and not enough ham. My associates had soup and the prawns respectively and they both enjoyed their starter. My main was the chicken strips in mushroom sauce and rice, it was lovely, and the sauce was divine! One of my friends joined me in having the chicken and he was equally impressed. My other friend had the steak and potatoes and said the steak was juicy and tender. We decided to split four deserts between us and had the pancakes, chocolate brownies, raspberry Brule and bailey’s cheesecake. I enjoyed the cheesecake but was in the minority. We all enjoyed the brule and the pancake but found the brownie to be overly sweet. All in all it was good food and I would recommend to anyone who was in the area,
