Went here for my ante natal class. Car park can get very busy and there aren’t many places. Grab the first space available. But inside it’s quite big and there is an M&S sandwich shop and a Pumpkin café shop. Update: Oct 2011 went to Children’s clinic here and I was impressed by the efficiency and knowledge of the staff.

I have been in the Royal Berks a few times, latterly to have two popliteal aneurysms byepassed and a left foot brought back to life after a clot went down into it. I cannot fault the surgery led by an excellent fellow Mr Magee who did my ops, one as an emergency, the second to prevent a similar problem as the first. I am very pleased with the results and back up. I have lost parts of two left toes but still have both feet ! The doctors and nurses were great but I have to record my concern at the weekend nursing staff who were not there when needed. In my ward we had eight men and some of us required urine receptacles… We buzzed our buzzers and no one came. This just didn’t happen only the once over the weekends we were in. We were left for ages. None of them could take blood properly and looking behind our beds we found a considerable amount of fluff and dirt. As a test I dropped a white mint behind my bed… It stayed there for THREE weeks before being swept up. The cleaner only went round the front of the beds. Hospitals in general are struggling with problems they make themselves. Bring back Matrons !!!

Im 31 yr old and the Royal Berks were fantastic with me when i was admitted this summer, couldn’t fault them, except on the fact all staff should be able to speak good English which there are a few that cant. My dad however has just come home from hospital and i am so glad to have him out of there. He has liver disease and was basically ignored, no information given to relatives and he is to confused to tell us himself what tests(if any) were given to him. We were made to feel that by asking the nurse’s any questions we were taking up there time. Just read his notes he has come home with that tells us his heart is enlarged and he has injured kidneys. We were not told any of this in the hospital, he has lost over a stone in his 3 week stay because they left him on his own with his dinner which he could not feed himself. Overall opinion: if your young fit and generally in good health they will be excellent and do everything they can for you. If your elderly or have terminal illness then look else where for care, as you are likely to be ignored and made to feel like a nuicance.

The Royal Berkshire hospital is a District General Hospital covering large parts of Berkshire. Care is provided across a wide variety of specialities, though complex cases can be referred to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. The hospital itself is largely quite modern, though a small part of it is still set in the original buildings which are rather dilapidated. It is quite sprawling, so be sure to ask for directions is you are lost. There is a café near the main entrance as well as a large restaurant on the lower floor, where the food is ok.

Nix. Ich zeig ihr meine private Versicherungscard. Keine Reaktion. Ich winke mit den Geldscheinen. Nix. Ich will einen Arzt sehen! Da klärte mich dir Dame auf, ich solle Paracetamol nehmen und mich hinlegen. Kein Stützstrumpf, keine Schiene, keine Krücken. Geflucht hab ich wochenlang.
