Pizza hut is great. but what happend to the one in Oxford Road?

It’s Pizza Hut… What can I say.
What I love??? The Happy Hour — between 3.30 & 5pm. Starter, main, salad + drink for £5.00

We visited at lunchtime.
We were seated almost immediately on arrival by a very friendly waiter.
The waitress who served us at the table was friendly & really appologetic about the long wait (although it wasn’t that long at all!!)
The only real criticism would be the rather narrow gaps between tables, as walking through holding hot food would can be quite tricky when the place is busy.

Can I really give a bog-​standard place such a Pizza Hut four stars? Well, on this occasion, I can’t really think of a reason to mark them down to three stars.
We arrived before 12am on a Saturday. The waitress allowed us to choose a different table than the window seat she wanted to put us in. We had our baby in his pram and chose a table with room for that beside us.
I had garlic bread and cheese, then a BBQ chicken pizza. Free refills on soft drinks are always welcome. Nice to drink as fast as you like without thinking the bill will be racking up.
My food was good. My wife had a toffee and banana shake which was yummy (I had a taste).
The waitress was absolutely lovely and deserved the decent tip we gave.
Pizza Hut is Pizza Hut. Things seemed a touch grotty if you looked hard. Like the dessert menus, the walls behind us, and the floors. But they have a high footfall I suppose.
The entrance features a short narrow corridor. Tricky to get in, with our pram, and far harder to get out, once people were queuing/​waiting in the corridor.
But I’ve always found their food consistently decent. And that Saturday lunchtime in Reading, we got a lovely, alert waitress.
Four stars.

Having decided we were hungry before most other places opened we were delighted to discover at 11.30am that Pizza Hut was already open! Greeted by a pleasent face we were shown to our table we were pleased that it was all clean, the high chair arrived and i was less impressed. it was filthy, the lady who had greeted us did clean it, but only after being asked to do so.
We ordered a drink, and I asked for a diet pepsi, it arrived and was just disgusting, it tasted like syrup. When i asked for something else as it was undrinkable, the waitress was lovely, but the woman in charge insisted on tasting it herself to check…
Food took ages to arrive, when it did, the childs meal arrived first and was steaming hot, then five minutes later we were told they had made the wrong pizza so did we want to eat the wrong one or wait for the right one.
It appeared to me like the entire place was being run by one waitress, while the greeter drank coffee behind the bar and emereged only to seat people. Lots of visitors in and out of the kitchen, maybe this is how they got our order wrong?
It is a shame that they are so disorganised, as the setting is fab, with views over the canal and the Oracle.
The stars i have given are for the helpful waitress and the tasty pizza (even if it was the wrong one).

I went to pizza ht at 7pm on a Thusday night and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. When we were seated, the table was still not wiped so we had to wait for it to be wiped and cleaned before we can rest our hands on the table. Not a very good start to the evening.
The pizzas did take a while to arrive, and when one if it looks slightly burned. So we werent impressed at all. It was wuite a busy night and we had to wait very long to get the pizzas, to get additional orders taken and to pay.
that esperience put us off pizza hut for a while.

As a big fan of pizza hut I usually enjoy their warm hospitality. However on my most recent visit I and a group of 3 friends were left waiting at the door for over 15 minutes before the staff even acknowledged our existence, to top this over we would told we would have to wait a further 15 – 20 minutes, although there were several tables that were free. Not only did they lose our custom to the Bella Italia, but several other groups behind us also left to go to other restaurants mostly due to their complete ignorance of us. There was at least 5 staff at the hut and at several times they were talking behind the bar. Never again!

Pros This Pizza Hut is well located, as it’s in the Riverside shopping and leisure complex overlooking the river and Oracle shopping centre in Reading. The restaurant is quite large and is well decorated, and there is a good amount of seating and tables available. The staff are friendly and welcoming, if extremely busy, and are happy to have a chat and make you feel welcome. The food’s standard Pizza Hut fare, cooked well and delivered quite quickly.
Cons This restaurant does get really busy, especially on Friday evenings and Saturdays, so it can be hard to get a table and you do have to wait a fair while.

Very cheap ad you get to have masses of food.
Only problem is that the food is horrible — greasy and tasteless.
Avoid.

I would definately reccommend pizza hut looking for a light lunchtime snack, or a big all you can eat buffet. Pizza hut has the greatest lunchtime deals, but when it comes to dinner they still have great starters, meals and desserts, but all pizza hut branches i have visited all have the same problem. They take way too long to serve you. When they finally do bring your food it’s either too cold or its not been cooked properly. So i would definately reccommend you to go ato pizza hut BUT ONLy AT LUNCHTIMES.
