Delicious! While staying at the apartments around the corner, we found this little gem. The first time we went, the owner was throwing a surprise birthday party for his wife and they included us like we were family. So in addition to a wonderfully warm welcome, we also were served delicious food with great portion sizes and small prices. The curries were hot and delicious, and so far we haven’t found 1 thing on the menu that we have not liked. My personal favorite is the garlic naan and the Singapore noodles. Be sure to ask the owner to do an impromptu magic show for you as well!

The older generation of friends I have in Reading often comment on how horrible the food at Khukuri is. The younger generation sing its praises. I’ve eaten at the restaurant several times. I’ve found the food to be exceptionally good.
So why only three stars? We went there one Sunday evening for an all-you-can-eat buffet, or at least something along those lines. It was advertised on two signs outside, but neither stated the same price. Both where reasonable though, just a few quid difference between them. We asked the hostess how much the buffet cost, she quoted a price somewhere in between those listed on the signs.
We were seated, and had a delicious meal. Great service too. A fellow who seemed as though he might be the manager was tending to our table when it came time to pay up. The bill he brought was for over twice the amount we expected. This was just moments after he’d had an argument over the advertised prices with a group that had just been seated. They left without ordering. We queried our total, and after some vague explanation about the buffet not being on this particular evening, he cut our total down by half. We were grateful, but also a little embarrassed and uncomfortable.
The food was fantastic, but the circumstances surrounding the inconsistent pricing were extremely unprofessional and did not impress. I hope it is something they have been able to iron out.
Oh, and they also offer great takeaway.
