This is my favourite club in reading, and recently got better, on fridays they now provide content with fire breathers, stilt walkers, dancers. Depends what your after, its got retro music with some new mainstream music to cater for all. cheap drinks and friendly vibe, not the arrogrance of other places in town, accessiblr to students and older crowd. never not had a good night here

Don’t expect the music from the eras advertised as they just play music from the latest time. I will report them to trading standards as it cost me £10 to get in and they played shit modern music

Jongleurs is a comedy club set above Bar Risa, which is a shame as Jongleurs is a great night in Reading for a bit of decent comedy entertainment, whilst Bar Risa is… a little bit rough really. I’ve been to Jongleurs a few times over the years and they’ve recently dropped their prices and offered a lot of deals, so we’ve been going there a lot more often. There’s always a great selection of comedians, and plenty of food and drink deals for your table. A great night out, but you might want to pop down the road to Sakura or Mix afterwards, rather than brave Risa. Unless you’re a big fan of WKDs and students.

Now this is a great place for a night out with friends, particularly in a large group where the entertainment is first rate. For a city centre night out the prices are reasonable for drinks and the choice on offer quite good. Found the one in Cardiff to be just as good.

Jongleurs Comedy Club nights have me in stiches of laughter. A great night out for friends, family or colleagues. The set up is great whereby you can eat whilst laughing. After the meals and jokes they provide music where you can relax and have a boogie. I also went to this one for Salsa lessons on Sunday evenings with Red Hat Salsa. Priced at £8 a lesson with free dancing afterwards to practise your newly learnt moves. I found both types of entertainment very fun, came away with sore jaws from laughing and smiling so much.

Cheap and cheerful. Fun after a night of comedy.

I can’t comment on the Jongleurs part as I’ve never been, but Risa as a pub/club is great. Downstairs has a big bar and a dancefloor for those who want to listen to the resident DJs strut their stuff with the latest tunes. Upstairs eventually opens up once the comedy evening’s over and done with and then the cheese beginneth. I much prefer the atmosphere upstairs as it’s more casual and not full of quite so many people convinced they’re good dancers. There may be an alarming level of what can only be called ‘spasming’ disguised as dancing upstairs but at least it’s honest and unashamed. The club’s good fun particularly when busy, so long as you don’t spend your entire evening waiting in the queue to get in or to get upstairs. Arrive early to avoid that, but expect the place to be dead until way past 11pm.

the comedy show, very good for hen nights/stag dos. most of the comedians are very funny and enjoy audience participation(ok if you dont mind being embarrassed). the food in a basket is ok but the cocktails are very nice. once the show has finished the disco starts very poppy and 80s which gets everyone dancing. expext sore feet in the morning and probably a sore head.
