Sometimes, you just want someone else to cook. And perhaps you’re not in the mood for a sit down restaurant and taking your order and waiting for the check and all that nonsense. And you don’t want BK or KFC or McD’s. That was me, tonight. I’ve walked past this shop a few dozen times(it’s at the end of my road) and there’s usually at least one or two customers in there, so I thought I might give it a try. They have two of the donner doo-dads. One is the standard lamb and the other is chicken. There’s also a grill and they do have burgers on the menu. After he finished preparing another order, the guy behind the counter asked me what I wanted. I figured I couldn’t go wrong with a chicken donner and I was right. And at £5(~$ 8), a reasonable purchase. When I got it home and took it out of the package, it was well loaded with chicken and spicy sauce and cabbage and onions and some pepperocini’s. See the linked pictures. There’s no way you’re eating this by hand. A fork is required, or it’s all over the place. The only complaint is that the bread was a little on the dry side, but it was still okay. Would I return? Yes. It was, as they say, A-OK. Harput is apparently named after a town near the Euphrates River. The store has a big sign mentioning that all the meat is «halal» which is similar to kosher. And what’s a donner? In the States, you usually see these in Greek restaurants. Its a vertical rotating spit with meat cooking on it. . There, you’re educated! Now go eat!
