I went there for lunch on a Saturday and was very satisfied. The service was remarkable and my meal was delicious! The prices seemed just about right.

Four of us dined here on Saturday night and were impressed. The food was good and reasonably priced but it was the service that really set it apart; friendly, funny and very helpful.

I’ve visited for a long Saturday afternoon lunch. It’s ideal for family eating. People that look like Chinese people chatter in a friendly, busy atmosphere. The tables are large and the décor is beautiful. I got a bit confused by the menu on my first few visits and the wait staff were a bit dismissive as they told me that I couldn’t order the combinations that I’d asked for. I made 3 ordering mistakes. But once you’ve got the hang of it, its wonderful!

I wouldn’t see Reading as a place to get good dim sum. I was mistaken. You can get some good dim sum here. Order your choice of tea. Mark off what you want, hand it to the waiter or waitress and off you go! They were all good. Of notable mention were the beef balls. Worst was cheung fun with dough inside. Too doughy. Was looking forward to that.

A «fancy» Chinese restaurant with tablecloths and full service, China Palace is a bit on the elegant side, but the prices don’t show it unless you go with the whole lobster appetizer for £22. There are a few other items on the menu that could easily kick you into the stratosphere of spending. As long as you avoid those, all is well. Attentive service from waiters and waitresses dressed in black, the food was good. Hot & Sour soup was good, but a bit salty. I was a little surprised to find both peas and small prawns in there. The Singapore Fried Noodles was a large portion of curried noodles with prawns, red and green peppers and a dusting of sesame seeds on top. I had plenty to take home and it was just as good the next day. Interesting music playing on the hidden speakers. Chinese singers and lyrics, intemixed with… is that Pink singing«So What»? Slightly out of place. Would I return? Maybe. The Dim Sum menu is appealing!

Went here with my girlfriend Sat 05/03/2010. It was extremely busy early evening. The service was slow, very poor & unfriendly! The restaurant was also too cold — I like to feel comfotable without my coat on! I really get pissed off when the plates turn up 15 mins before the food! The same thing with out main course but they were stone-cold! Drops two stas! Have been twice fairly recently — the place has been refurbished & looks better off for it! The menu is fairly extensive, there always seems to be a number of Chinese eating there which is a good sign. The noodle dish we ordered was huge! I would suggest going as a group rather than just two — you can then share more dishes between you because you will feel well fed! Not bad but I can remeber an epic company Christmas trough-out in 2000 when it was called the Imperial — the food just kept on coming back then! Worth a visit.

Dim sum tasted frozen then reheated, expensive for what you get, value for money just wasn’t there. I’m a noodle fanatic and the noodles didn’t do anything for me, dry and bland.
