We had visitors from the U.S. and went to eat here because they wanted Indian food. Eight of us dined. Fantastic food. Great prices. Very polite and helpful staff. A brilliant evening. Thank you :)

Saturday evening and we decided to go to an Indian. With the power of Unilocal search we found a local one that we hadn’t tried before. I called ahead to see if they had availability and they were lovely and polite over the phone and told us to come on down. We walked in, not too busy, and picked a table. I liked the fact that just because there were only two of us they didn’t restrict us to a two seated table and we sat at a four by the window. They took our drinks order straight away and gave us poppadoms and dips. We looked through a comprehensive menu and made our choices. The boyff wanted a lamb chop for starter — random I know — and we ordered the mains too. The lamb chop was cooked beautifully and was a decent chop of good quality lamb. Mains came out… I had chicken tikka balti, which was lovely, I was surprised just how much chicken there was in the dish! It was cooked to an excellent standard and had lots of flavours running through it. The boyff had lamb jalfrazzi and he said it was excellent! He didn’t talk the whole way though and was just nodding and mmmmn’ing! We had some Bombay potatoes as a side and they were delicious! I nearly ordered some just to take home with me. When we had finished, we asked for the bill, we were served fresh orange slices to cleanse our mouths with(obviously I ate them like you used to as a child and found it highly amusing), and some warm wipes. We paid and were bought the typical after dinner mint chocolate squares. The waiter chatted to us for a little bit and was so friendly, without being over bearing. We left, with the waiter getting the door and full tummies! I will definitely be going back here. Very good standard of food and great service. A top shout if you want Indian out, without paying through the most for pretentious contemporary Indian food that you get at other restaurants.

Was once the best Indian restaurant to pop to but has become somewhat drab and the food isn’t what it was. Service polite and friendly as you would expect but the place needs a face-lift and something to steer it back on track.

5 of us ate at the Akash on Saturday night and whilst the food was pretty tasty the décor and the service leaves a lot to be desired. From the outside it looks quite promising, but inside the look is tired, pink and in need of a lift. The bar area at the back is very small and the toilets are not hidden so you come out practically into someone’s table! We booked ahead, but they had no record of that and then made us stand whilst they slowly set up a table. Slow to brink us the drinks menu, the table for 5 was too small to accomodate everything that we ordered. To be fair enough, when we did order the food was excellent. Lots of choice, spicy and flavour some and the Kingfisher on tap went down nicely. I don’t think I’d visit again — more likely to use as a take out.
