I’m a professional spanish drummer and went to that shop just for drum sticks and drum heads. I have to say that the people, atmosphere and stuff they have there is just amazing. Nice place to go, see and buy. Don’t miss it!!!

The shop is very useful if you want to buy a first violin, recorder or things like a metronome or rosin for bows. They have a simple collection of music and are convieniently placed on their own, away from any other music shop. If you are looking for a good range of music or well made musical instruments do not go here. The electric guitars i am told are very poor quality if you can play anything more advanced than ‘smoke on the water’ it is best to look for a wider range for cheaper elswhere.

There is nothing particular to note about this store apart from their excellent collection of well-priced Ibanez guitars. Other guitar brands include Washburn and Dean, while the Peavey and Stage brands make up most of their amplifiers. Staying true to the beginners, lots of neatly kept reading and music material can be found across a large range of subjects from self-teaching to advanced sheet music. All the usual music industry consumables can be found around the shop like drum sticks, plectrums and guitar pedals. Look out for the guitar strap section: they have some really cool ones, so you can look really good while serenading your neighbour’s daughter with your own version of «Sweet Home Alabama». Ritz Music also has a repair shop upstairs in case any of your bedroom head banging gets out of hand.

Ritz is a very small music shop in Putney. They sell a variety of instruments and it was where I got my 3 student violins from and i also know you can do instrument rentals, for a good price! They sell music books for all instruments and I have often heard the sounds of electric guitars and drum kits from upstairs but I have never dared to venture up the narrow staircase! The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, and the only problem I have had in there was when a friend was ordering a violin case, they didnt have one so she waited a couple of weeks and they still hadnt ordered it and then she went in again and then they had one but in the totoally wrong colour. It’s nothing big, but the sort of hassle that you just wished you ahd gone elsewhere. After saying that I think overall they are a good music shop and are really helpful. I seem to recall them once fixing a violin bridge for free when it fell off so they come across more as music lovers rather than money lovers which I like.
