I’m the first to admit that I’ve only been to the Jolly’s for the open mic nights so I don’t know what this place is like on a normal school night or the weekend. However when I do go I find this a very laid back, friendly bar, that whilst obviously a local doesn’t come with the same aggressive overtones that you get with some of these out of the way places! It’s an honest down to earth place. With a house double vodka and mixer under a £5, you’re on to a winner here — and the music isn’t half bad either! They seem to have quite a few music events, which always makes a good atmosphere. One thing to note, they do stop doing the Sunday lunch pretty early, and whilst there is a Tesco across the way’s that also closes early and you have very limited food options in the area. I had to survive last time on crisps and nuts, which didn’t go down so well with my plan to drink lots! If you’re in the area or into open mic’s then check this place out, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way otherwise.
