Proper pub with friendly locals. Sick of pub chains? Then this place is a refreshing change.

This is what I call a ‘proper’ pub. There’s a meat raffle on a Friday night, the cloudy cider is there and they sell eggs in boxes behind the bar. There’s a guy who plays the old time music on the piano occasionally and they have a quiz night. It’s essentially a locals pub but it’s very friendly. there’s a pool table in one bar and a decent sized beer garden outside. Plenty of parking behind the pub and a tasteful smoking pagoda at the front of the pub.

This is what I call a boozer! My friend and I nipped in here a few pints while my daughter was at a ballet class. No, we each had a bitter shandy, but I think most people were on the pints! This is a pub that seems to be a gathering place; a local. Pretty basic really. Darts, pool, and tv. Every one is very friendly we were greeted and cheerioed by the majority of customers, probably as we were the only women! The bar itself is very attractive with a mosaic glass screen in one part. The rest is purely functional although it could be made very pleasant with a bit of effort. This was my first visit, and I don’t have plans to return, but if I should breakdown outside, I know I’ll be well looked after.
