Hard to find fault with this place, its a great social bar with high prices to keep the rif raf out, and a great atmosphere because of this. The restaurant is outstanding too. Locally sourced meats and sea food make this place special in a market of chain pubs supplied by Brakes! The food is consistantly good, its hot and very tasty to boot.

The new themed Rising Sun — Gastro Pub — is ten times better than ever before! with such comments as better seafood than Storm & Loch fyne, this place is going to go far. It has such high quality in décor, staff, cliental, food and drink, it just has to be tried! Hatchs; The Rising Sun in Purewell IS still a good thai restaurant, not ‘the original’, however the sister pub. As for poor quality food, not great service or atmosphere in poole. i’m sure others will see for themselves that you sir are incorrect! This new look pub is a experience you must devorer. Simply beautiful.

Rising Sun has become one of the most upmarket restaurants in Poole. It is sexy, modern yet romantic, and chic. We went there for a celebration. The décor is simple yet trendy, with few decorations. The walls in the dining room are black and there is downlighting to the middle of each table which gives the sense of candlelight. The bar is a lounge, with leather armchairs. The feel is sophisticated yet relaxed. The restuarant is primarily a fish restaurant with a small menu. This does not detract from anything. Rising Sun will not be eaten at every week by every customer, so the small menu gives it a feel of attention to detail. I had pan fried mackerel with deep fried fennel, new potatoes and a bed of sliced tomato. The fish was exquisite, something I never thought I’d say about mackerel. It went perfectly with the fennel. My meal was extremely enjoyable and I felt mildly disappointed to have to finish it. I would have liked to have seen a third colour on my plate, perhaps French beans. My companion had the cottage pie, which was delicious.(I know because I had to finish the last mouthful of my daughters.) It was finely chopped steak, cooked with a hint of wine I think. Superb. My daughter had frozen berries with vanilla sauce as her sweet. Fabulous. One has to wait for the hot sauce to melt the berries! It was truly fun and and delight. The sauce was perfect. I had a Kahlua for sweet, perfect, and my friend had American Baked Cheese Cake, which certainly looked good. We were well served and attended. The staff are very friendly. I recommend this to anyone, and I will certainly be back.
