Maltsters Arms

I’m not a big fan of the Maltsters, but that was because I had a bad experience there. If you’re going for a few quiet drinks then I guess this place would be great, and the beer garden by the river is wonderfully tranquil.
My friend and I went there for food and had to wait over an hour to eat! We tried getting the attention of the staff but there was no-​one in sight. Then when our order came it was wrong and the staff did nothing to try to help. I’m by no means a snob but the female toilets were quite frankly scary.
The day that we went, we were told that a new manager had taken over the previous day. So hopefully by now they will have made significant improvements.
With some refurb to the toilets and new manager I hope that some new life can be breathed into this place, because the building itself and the riverside location are wonerful and they used to have some great gigs in the cellar.

Great pub, also does some lovely food. Great place to go in the summer as it’s near the park and the river is a minute’s walk away. I love visiting the maltsters before any other place where you have to que and push past other people. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants a lovely night in a great pub.

The malsters is located by the old bridge in Pontypridd. It serves nice food at very good prices. Has a beer garden and a seperate area for smokers. Drinks prices are fairly expensive in comparison to other pubs in ponty. Nicely decorated inside. Good for sporting events.

The malsters is a nicely decorated pub located just opposite ‘The Old Bridge’ in Pontypridd. It has a nice outdoor beer garden which the river taff runs alongside. There is a seperate area for smokers which is under cover. The drink is quite expensive but you do get a nice setting. Sporting fixtures are often shown here making it a popular choice on match day.

The Malsters is a great pub for a quiet drink with some friends. It has been redecorated within the last few years and looks alot better for it. The beer is quite dear. Used to be full of young un’s but now its more of an old mans pub. The beer garden is great as long as the Taff isnt smelly. The food is decent in here as well and the prices are reasonable.

One of the best places to go out in Ponty, the Maltsters Arms is a tidy pub where you can go to chat with friends at the start of a night out before moving to ‘heavier’ locations. There is a downstairs that sometimes has ‘clubnights’ but I mostly stick to upstairs and just chill out in the bar. It’s a great place to go when the rugby is on — especially the six nations — as the atmosphere is great — really warm and friendly and not threatening regardless of your nationality. One warning — my sister had her purse pinched out of her bag in here. By the guys sitting at the next table who had chatted away to her and her friends for ages before getting up to go. However, I think this was a one off ‘chancer’ occasion and not the norm.
