This was my second visit to the greyhound races in Wakefield, and I’ll probably go back again which is the reason why it’s getting 2 stars from me. One my first visit I did a group booking direct with the venue, and the package was pretty decent as it included entry, a pretty ok selection of meals to choose from, a couple of drinks from the bar and a free bet. If you can get a group together, then I’d recommend the deal. Asides from the deal, its better in a group. there’s safety in numbers! This time I went on a Groupon deal — entry, a burger(or cheese pizza for the veggies) and a drink. I guess you get what you pay for! The bar is pretty expensive at around £4 a pint. The races themselves can be fun if you’ve placed a bet, we set a limit of £20& broke that down into amounts for the different races, and the winnings just about covered the night out! I recommend just deciding at the start of the evening which dogs you’re betting on, and placing them all at the same time so that you’re free to just enjoy the rest of the evening. After the races there’s a disco in the bar area. if you’re brave enough. which I haven’t been, on either occasion!
