I had a meal here recently mainly so that I could use the free wi-fi on offer(which worked a treat). It was packed out, tables rather close together, and difficult to find a free seat but finally got settled right at the back. It was all pretty noisy and crowded but the staff were very friendly and I was served surprisingly quickly. The menu(as at all Wetherspoon branches all over the country) was varied with plenty of choice and there’s a good range of real ale, wine and soft drinks. Very easy to find being in the middle of the Mutley Plain shopping street. If you’re lucky you might find a space down one of the side streets(probably a long way down) or else there is a large car park on the opposite side of the road at one end(city end).

A fairly boring, typical spoons in this popular, tacky part of town. Busy but cheap. Wasn’t too impressed by my Blackcurrant Stout. There was a slightly creepy underdressed woman in here too who managed to look 14 and 40 years old at the same time! The pub name derives from the name of the area.

I used to visit here quite often but I got sick of the inconsistency of the food. Sometimes it was pretty good, other times really really poor. Food was often lukewarm, not cooked correctly eg steaks and service can be really slow. Drikns wise, normal, good selection from Wetherspoons. Not recommended by me.

This place is hit or miss. For food I have been sometimes and found the food to be dry and crusty and clearly been sat under the hot lamp for the past few hours. However on other occassions I have been in and had a good food for the price paid. There is normally some 2 for £6ish meal options on and some cheap drinks to go with it. In the evenings the place can become really busy and the queue at the bar can be a real drag.

Not very impressed with Grumbles review! This isn’t our experience of the Mannamead! The Mannamead is our local and we visit as a family with our(older) kids. Sure-it’s rowdy late in the evening-this is student land– but even then the long, deep bar means that you can sit away from the noise if you want to. The food is fab and cheap; the staff are friendly and obliging; the service is fast and the coffee is the best and cheapest on Mutley Plain. We LOVE Mannamead Spoons.

I love this place, it is fail-safe! I am a local and I am not a lad in white shirt with gelled hair or a territorial gorilla(I hope!)…True, it does get rowdy on a Saturday night, but what Plymouth establishment doesn’t?! The staff are lovely and on weekday evenings it’s actually a really nice place to go for a quiet glass of wine/beer/whatever your tipple

Part of the Wetherspoons chain so cheap drinks and food. Nice open plan and fitted just as any other Wetherspoons pub. More of a local clientele which tends to be lads in white shirts and gelled hair who smell like the perfume counter at boots but act like territorial gorillas.
