The gym was refurbished in December 2009 and the interior décor of the building has been attended to. The changing rooms have been completely renovated and now it is worth the monthly fee.
As of August 2010 there is a new fitness manager and he is making a difference in the gym. Staff are being motivated and directed, the whole experience for members is improving.
I joined the Devonshire in it’s opening year and I have seen the ups and downs of the club. The quality of the staff is what makes the difference and at the moment it’s a good club.

There is no doubt that this is a nice establishment, both an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, sun loungers, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym, badminton courts, squash courts, tennis courts It sounds brilliant, but the reality is not so good.
Firstly, it is a very expensive place to join, and quite simply it is no longer worth the money. I used to be a member, but left due to facilities not being maintained. for long stretches the outdoor pool was unavailable, likewise with the jacuzzi and when speaking to staff it seemed like it was not particularly to get it sorted as quick as possible. Also air conditioning was a problem for the whole time i was there, with it not working in the gym for some time and never working well in the badminton courts, why this hasn’t been sorted is beyond me?
Recently went back after being offered a free weekend to try it out again, and i wasn’t impressed. This was a time where they could have won back my support, but instead i found that the staff could barely be bothered to talk to me about their offers and still many facilities were unstable.
The only redeeming feature is the bar, which is really nicely lighted and offers excellent food, however, even this is overpriced.
