Decent pub! Great food. Recommend eating. Had roasts and they were lovely. Staff were friendly. It was very cold. Not sure if this is common. But it was cold! So go here. Eat the food. I had 2 fantastic diet cokes(dry January sorry) but they were abnormally tasty.

A firm favourite when dining out in Peterborough, the food at The Beehive is consistently good with a better than average menu. Best described as a gastropub(it’s a smart bar and they serve smart food), the only thing that lets the Beehive down is it’s location — plonked on an island between the Asda car park and the Bourges Boulevard dual carriageway. Location aside, The Beehive is absolutely worth a visit. The menu could do with being changed more regularly as I’ve managed to have the same special three or four times now. The selection of drinks are good, maybe a little pricier than you would find in town but the good food in the restaurant and bar make up for that. Within walking distance from the train station, it’s a good location for a lunch during the day. There are also large booth’s and a private dining room available if you’re with a group of friends.

The Beehive is owned by the same couple that own Jim’s Yard in Stamford. The food here is OK, not great, which is disappointing in comparison to Jim’s Yard, which is excellent. The service here is sub par. I do not believe that the staff is very professional, which again is a disappoint. The one thing positive is downtown Peterborough has so few good restaurants that The Beehive is acceptable. For Italian food the Prezzo restaurant in downtown is quite good. If you are driving, The Windmill restaurant in the Orton area of Peterborough is quite good and gives one a feel of a REAL community pub/restaurant.

The food here was good, but nothing to brag about. I would go back for the lemon cake ever day if I could. The service was great.

This pub(I’d hesitate, really, to describe it as a «gastropub», but that’s the closest that Unilocal’s filing system can manage to a proper British pub) is fantastic. The place speaks for itself — three or four real ales on tap, two brewed specifically for the venue, combined with really good food on every day of the week including the best chips for miles. The food is exquisite every time. We went for Mothering Sunday recently and I had the shellfish bisque, which was gorgeous, followed by the chicken. Calling it ‘the chicken’ doesn’t really do it justice though — not at all dry, with a layer of herbs spread underneath the skin to really infuse it with a deliciousness beyond anything I’ve had for Sunday lunch in a pub for a while. The Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes(so often the downfall of an otherwise brilliant pub lunch) were absolutely sublime, nearly as good as mum’s own cooking! To cap it off there was a chocolate and pistachio brownie with pistachio ice-cream — this was so soft that when you cut into the ice-cream with your spoon, the brownie went all gooey. This was also complemented brilliantly by really good service, a bustling interior and a décor that reminds you of a traditional country pub but with a hint of modernity. The one aspect of things that really seals the deal is the opening times: they serve food until 5pm on a Sunday! Perfect for the family who likes to take the Sunday a little more gently than others, and ends up not eating until about 4pm. If every pub in the world was like this one, the world would be a much better place!
