We went to jimmy spices in Peterborough for a second time after a disappointing experience following a invite from the manager we thought we would give it another go. We was made very welcome and received first class service. If you want a quiet meal for two this will not happen as it is aimed at families as well and can get very busy due to its popularity especially Friday and Saturday evening. The food is plentifull and good quality. I am in the food industry and the hygiene is second to none with a local authority star rating of 5 and well deserved. One suggestion would be to ensure customers are given antiseptic wipes on entering the restaurant. unfortunately the hygiene of customers cannot be controlled so easily. There are many choices of restaurants to choose from but I would. Place jimmys as one of the top spots for quality and value for money. I would return for another visit and take friends and family. It would be advised to understand. The nature in what’s on offer as a majority of the food is spicy and not everybodies choice. You have to try jimmys for yourself but bare in mind considering the thousands of people that attend. There are bound to be some critisism only those that eat there can come to there own conclusion. I visited Jimmy Spices Peterborough last night, and based on the reviews I had read I expected the worse. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean, bright and quite well laid out, and there was none of this nonsense about paying as soon as you entered. A waiter took out drinks order, and explained how the self-serve system worked(I know it’s obvious but it was always nice to hear from the horse’s mouth). The food range was great — Thai, Mexican, Indian, Chinese, and Italian — but the latter is very limited and personally I would avoid the pasta. In terms of taste, the food wasn’t bad; certainly not the best I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst. Mixed reviews from my fellow diners but most went up several times to try different foods. Having noodles cooked in front of you with your choice of meat and veg was a nice touch, and the desert counter is good fun. Either choose delicious bite size cakes or pick ice cream flavours which the ice cream ‘chef’ will mix up for you with sweets of your choice(or do both like I did). Overall not a bad place to visit particularly if going in a large group. Perhaps not so great for an intimate meal for two. P. S. for a Tuesday night in Peterborough, this place was busy; approx, half full with more people arriving all the time. And yes drinks service(waiting for drinks to arrive) was slow and more waiters are needed.

I visited during a lunchtime, mainly to see what Jimmy Spices had to offer. After reading reviews online, I was fearing the worst but in reality, it wasn’t that bad at all. Certainly the biggest gripe most people seemed to have was the drinks ordering system, well I’m happy to say that(at least at lunch time) I placed my drinks order at my table and didn’t have to visit the bar once. I found all the staff polite and helpful — when one of the waiters spilled a drink over my dining partner he was very apologetic(as you’d expect) and quickly moved us over to a new table. These things can happen in all restaurants so it’s not a reflection on them. The food however was a little disappointing. The variety was there, with a selection of dishes from all the cuisines they had on offer but there wasn’t much in the way of taste. After a while I felt like I was just eating for the sake of it(to get my monies worth seeing as it’s all you can eat). My fear is that the menu at Jimmy Spices doesn’t change, so if you do go back for a return visit you’ll be met with the same lacklustre dishes again and again. Check out my full review at

Good idea, but am not keen on the drink ordering system as others have mentioned. Some of the food is really good, and the desert area was particularly impressive with a chef on hand to make a mash of whatever you wanted in your ice cream. Some of the food was a bit on the cheap side it seemed, but for the price and with the amount of food on offer it was definitely worth a visit just to give it a try

Really good concept, but the food is only average. I recommend going at least once to try it out.

Newly opened and when I visited(sunday 30th in the evening) VERYBUSY. However if you are looking for some exciting food, then this could be the very place. A buffet dining experience with exotic combinations of spices and a variety to suit all tastes including vegetarian. One of my favorites was Afghani Chicken. Delicious and tender meat mixed with peppers and onions and spicey, but not over the top. Fish Pakoras were out of this world. Kung Po Chicken was also very tasty. Freshly prepared noodles with your choice of meat or veg, took a bit of time but worth the wait. Like I said it was heaving, and sometimes confusing. Food descriptions were displaced, so although something looked good, you had no idea what it was this also applied to deserts. Talking of sweets try the lovely coconut thingy I had 3 and they were awesome. On the downside they ran out of plates, yes plates were in very short supply, you found yourself looking around to grab a plate to pile all your delicious food on. Egg fried rice was distincly lacking egg, but plenty of carrot and peas. Drinks system was tediously slow you queue up pay for drinks then they are served at your table. Bit of a pain. Our second order of drinks finally arrived as we were almost ready to leave. They could have had some more staff to be honest. There is also a strange dining code(discoverd from someone who went there earlier in the week), that when you have cleared your plate, leave your cutlery on the table, so you can go and help yourself to more otherwise the staff conclude that you have finished eating!!! I wouldn’t go there for Valentines, not really a place for some secluded dining, but great for a Saturday afternoon or lunch. A member of my party had to take a medical injection, we were informed the toilets were upstairs, so for those with difficulty climbing stairs be warned. Happily go there again and see what I missed out on the first time.
