I’ve just read the two reviews above and as they both seem to have been written shortly after Calm-a-Baby opened I wanted to give a more updated account. We have both our sons taking swimming lessons here and as the review above says the tutors are fantastic. Full of confidence and loved by the children. Not sure whether floors are now heated, although I suspect they might be as they never feel cold. There is now a very popular café/tea-room which does great cakes, lunches and drinks. Prices aren’t particularly cheap but they are competitive and the food is ‘home’-cooked and tasty. There’s also a great little play area for under 5s which has a range of wooden toys and both boys want to play on most visits. Finally, I’m not sure whether the first reviews comments on administration are fair any more as we never have problems getting lessons rebooked or moved when we call. All staff there are friendly and very helpful they even found me a spare pair of trunks when I left mine at home and had an eager 18 month old wanting to swim. Great place and highly recommended for swimming, lunches and cake!

We really love the swimming courses and the facilities are nice and clean, but the administration side of the business is lacking. Be prepared to make repetitive inquiries regardless how the initial inquiry was made. I’ve tried telephone, e-mail, Facebook and in-person all requiring another go. I wish I could support a small business, but seeing as I’ve given up on ever getting a ring back when requested, 2 stars is pretty generous.

A great place for baby courses we’ve done both baby massage and baby swimming(0 – 3 months), and both were excellent. The swimming classes take place in the heated pool, under very knowledgeable instruction, and last 20 mins each sounds short, but it is plenty for the tiny bubs. Baby massage classes are an hour, and there’s always time, space and opportunity to socialise with other mums after class. Biscuits and hot and cold drinks are offered. Great atmosphere! Apparently, a café will open there soon, so this will be a great place for mums and their little ones(dads are of course welcome!). The only negative point: the changing rooms at the pool were supposed to be heated but always felt too cool for the little ones not good after swimming. Only four stars then, but a great place to which we will return!
