Loch Leven Larder made for a pleasant lunch in Perth, although it wasn’t quite what I expected. The café is going for a homely and quirky vibe with cute and eclectic decorations around. The wall art was really eye-catching and I just loved the kitchen. It’s like looking into the kitchen of a baker; all pretty and looking well-stocked with goodies. — The café is essentially one big room, to which the kitchen and counter are attached. You can see the staff working away, which I like. Oddly enough, there were some strange, upturned legs displayed with tights and pants on. — Like a legs mannequin you’d find in high street shops! The more I think about it, this leggy intruder really did look out of place. It was really quite bizarre! Onwards and upwards; staff were really friendly and I think that was my favourite part about Loch Leven Larder. We were welcomed warmly and the lovely fellow who bid us farewell is just the sort of man you’d come back for. The cake selection — which we didn’t dip into this time round — did look delicious! I went for the soup of the day, which was a hearty and comforting bowl of potato and rosemary. I love the traditional leek and potato and this was a creamy, lovely twist on the classic. Mmm! I would have liked the option of wholemeal bread with the soup as that’s my preference. Still, it was a nice lunch nonetheless. I did feel that the location of the café wasn’t great. You have to cut through a department store to get there. For me, this took away from the atmosphere a little. Whilst I wouldn’t come to Perth just to lunch here, I wouldn’t say no to stopping by to try their cakes.

It seems to be more common now to have farm shop type cafes in towns and cities. Perth is no exception. Loch Leven Larder In The City is exactly what it says. It brings farm shop food into the centre of Perth. I recently had the soup and sandwich deal which was exceptionally tasty. However, it’s small portions for the price and I left slightly hungry still. I have also been here for tea and baked goods. If anything, it’s worth coming here for a scone or slice of cake. It’s a bit unfortunate that the café is tucked away down an alley behind McEwan’s and beside St Matthew’s Kirk. While the original location by Loch Leven is hardly a secret to anyone in Perth or Fife, I know very few people in town that have heard of this particular location and it’s a true shame. The food is amazing. But, it’s location is a much better place for a tea/coffee and private conversation than the high street chains as the seating area is spacious and comfortable and it’s highly unlikely that you would be overcrowded due to it’s poor location. If you’re in Perth, this is definitely worth a visit.

This little café is tucked away down side streets and closes, connected to McEwens Kitchen shop. It is like its Mother store the Lock Leven Larder(on Loch Leven duh), with its cute décor, shabby chic retro seating and delicious cakes. I have had lunch here and its good, its not amazing but its good. But the cakes and scones are delicious! I enjoy meeting people here for a peanut butter scone(OH yes I did say peanut butter) or a yummy slice of cake with some delicious teapot options! The last time I came I had a lovely vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and shaved white chocolate on top. It was super light and fluffy! The chocolate was delicious but not too chocolatey. Every bite was happiness(I know I’m easy to please haha).
