**WARNING** This is a lengthy review and you WILL be hungry after reading! Just outside Perth and a short detour from the A9 lies Tibbermore(I know, cute right!), a typical ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ kinda place, but really, just don’t blink cos this place is awesome! It really does have it all — fresh fruit and vegetables all leafy and colourful, a gin lovers corner, wonderful cheese and meats deli, health foods section including a variety a GF flours, breads and oatcakes(try their own oatcakes, completely different from the brand that sounds like Talkers but sooo much tastier!), tray upon tray of freshly laid eggs… I could go on but you get the idea! And that’s just the food section! They also have a glorious gift section where I could’ve easily spent a small fortune. Everything from kitchen gadgets to picnic baskets, kiddie gifts to Emma Bridgewater pottery and everything in between. I spotted a few local producers too which I loved as I always like to see locals businesses supporting each other. Then there’s the café/restaurant which has a few outdoor tables but plenty inside if they’re taken; the day I visited it was glorious but somehow we got lucky and got a table outside(my shoulders can prove that #scottishtan…). The menu has lots of tasty options incorporating as much of their own produce as possible — I opted for the Homemade Chicken Liver pâté while my parents both had the Smoked Ayrshire Ham & Gloagburn Curried Banana Chutney sandwich(Dad went hunting for the ham to buy later he was that impressed!). Once decided, we had to go inside and order at the counter; I’m not sure if this was due to us sitting outside or standard practise as when we asked for a second round of coffees(and some more oatcakes for me as I’d ran out!), a waitress came over with one of those electronic hand-held thingys to take that order so I wondered why she couldn’t have done that initially, anyway, not really a star-affecting issue. Pricewise, we were just shy of £10/head for a sandwich and coffee(exc our 2nd coffee round), a tad steep but it’s all fresh and local produce so I don’t mind paying that when you know you’re getting good quality(and it really was!). Given it’s out-the-way location it’s a busy wee place but worth the trip as you could easily spend a couple of hours here eating and browsing. There’s plenty parking available and even a small play area for kids. Farm Shops like this don’t come around too often, which is a shame as they really are wee gems of places!

So my tip hopefully says it all: «the most amazing farm shop ever!» but for review purposes, I’ll elaborate. I’d seen this place popping up on my feed thanks to Unilocal Perth King & Queen, John R & Alisa R. We’d been in Perth for the day so stopped on our way back to Glasgow — this was just after 5pm, and the shop closes at 5.30 but thankfully they were happy to let us browse. First of all, when you enter you’re greeted by a lush display of vegetables/produce which is seriously beautiful. It’s a proper farm shop and the veggies are dirt covered/misshapen, how they should be. There’s no crazy layers of packaging here and you can actually touch it all — if touching up vegetables is your thing. The shop inside is really large and has a massive range of everything you could dream of. Cheeses, charcuterie, frozen meals, meats, jams, booze(great gin selection), wines, biscuits, beers as well as a gift shop area. We grabbed a few bits and pieces and managed to spend like £30 but I don’t regret a penny of it. Our best purchases of the day were Great Glen Game venison salami(available to buy in Glasgow at George Mewes or on the platter at Kelvingrove Café), and the Baron Begold cheese which is one of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. Staff were friendly and welcoming(even though we were probably cutting into their time for watching Eurovision) and we’ve already planned to leave for Perth early next time so we can eat here for brunch/lunch. It’s easy to find if you’re driving as there’s lots of signs, or just ask your Unilocal app to send you the right way.

This is a shop where I could spend hours combing through all their goods, kitchen tools, cute dishes, etc. Even most of their goods come in decorative jars and boxes. After walking through the shopping area a smaller café area awaits you. The view was a field full of animals and a dog running after the postman’s van. Breakfast and lunch foods are available. We opted for scones, lattes, a venison burger, and lasagna. The fruit scone was delicious with butter and jam, paired with a perfect latte. The venison burger was slightly saltier than I was expecting, but made my mouth water and yearn for the next bite and the burger quickly disappeared. Service was great. Server was around enough to be helpful and not intrude in our conversation. I will be back for the food, ambiance, and cute kitchen gadgets.

Best place to eat in the PERTH area. I have visited Gloagburn multiple times. The daily specials are made from local ingredients, and the best ones. If anything, I would recommend having the afternoon tea. I’m a huge tea fan and have a sweet tooth(or two), so you can understand that I could easily be drawn to an afternoon tea. If I’m correct, they serve Brodies loose tea. Whatever tea it is, it’s a good one(and I’m a bit picky, to say the least). It includes the best coronation chicken and hot smoked salmon sandwiches around. Really tasty scones. The meringues and empire biscuits are excellent. My favourite would definitely be the malteser bakes, which I would gladly eat thousands of if it wouldn’t kill me. And if it did kill me, it would be a good way to go. I’ll definitely be going back there again. And whenever friends and family visit Perth, this is where I’ll take them. Oh yeah… and they have a great shop, including local produce and eggs from the farm.

I love this place. Never disappointed. The coronation chicken sandwich and the hot smoked salmon sandwich are so delicious. A bit more expensive then a sandwich in town but worth it . The Specials are always amazing and worth every penny! Then desserts are AMAZING worth every calorie ! I have tasted empire biscuits all over Scotland and these are the only ones that melt in your mouth !

Beautiful farm food all home made, nice stuff for festive period. This is a lovely farmhouse shop & restaraunt, everything is home made, and all the food items and craft pieces are from local people in the area. You can buy lots of unusual veg from the local farmers and potatoes, including chicken and duck eggs ect! For sale in the shop is everything from a candle to a mincepie, and books and cards, and local Knitwear. I bought a mincemeat pie, and i have managed to keep it whole so far! They also have free range chickens and ducks on their site roaming around, worth a visit.

Set in Tibbermore, in the midst of a working farm, this gem came as a big surprise to me the 1st time I stumbled upon it. The café offers a range of home cooking and baking which is both homely and delightful. Not only a coffee shop/restaurant but a farm shop too! Gloagburn also offers a range of food produce to take home, which ranges from their own farm eggs to frozen berries and pastries and more, all of excellent quality. In addition they have a great gift area which for me rounds off the experience with a browse! The premises was extended a wee while ago however every time I go it is always busy no matter the time of the day or the day of the week. Whilst this is proof in itself that this is a great place, I would recommend that if you are going for lunch you go sharpish so as to avoid a queue.

Lovely shop with café attached. serves great home baking and home made soup. Has animals outside — pigs, ducks and hens. Ten minutes from perth — well worth the trip for a cuppa and a cake. Have frozen food as well so lots to fill up the freezer with. Anytime I have been the café has always been very busy but you never have to wait too long to get a seat.

A really lovely place to go for an hour or two. Gloagburn is among many ‘farm shops’ that have popped up recently in Perthshire, but is one of the best! A small shop selling fresh and local produce, books, cards, Ecover and Emma Bridgewater amongst other things. This leads into another shop selling high end groceries including meats and has a small deli counter. The café area is large with a ‘country feel’ and serves fantastic food which is fresh, generously sized and reasonably priced. The cakes are supurb, particularly the brownies and apple and amond cake. The staff are very friendly and always on the ball. Outside, there is ample parking, a small duckpond, 2 pigs, a horse and a huge dog that is in the field with the horse(to see it is to believe it!) Emma Bridgewater, books, cakes, ducks and pigs… what more would you want from a Sunday afternoon?
