TK Maxx

The gear in here is awful. And most of it is in very bad shape from being man handled by the local hobbits. But every now and then you can find something special if your willing to dig in the racks.

Something of a mixed bag. Situated in an out of town location, this TKMaxx has a substantial floor space and ought to be one of the better stocked branches. In fact it often seems to have less available than other smaller branches whilst at the same time offering the typical confusing layout. Clothes are so so but stock does change regularly and so there is generally something new to check out. The homeware section is very good but don’t waste your time looking for shoes or mens’ formal wear, the choice in both is dreadful.
Plentiful free parking earns it one extra star.

OK, you can dismiss this place and there is little to justify a visit.
You could sit in the car like a disgruntled teen while your significant other trawls around the bargains.
Or you could find the interesting bits while you wait.

You could mildly amuse yourself with the ornaments.
Your best bet is — — Glassware
You will find the wackiest Eastern European/​Mediterranean Wine Glasses and such, packed away in long strange boxes.
Try and picture someone having a dinner party with the squiggly blue and gold streaky animal print wine glasses as the center piece of the evening.
Or check out the porcelain thingies that seem to serve no purpose what-​so-​ever. You may be able to burn up the time till your significant other decides that they don’t have last year’s clothes in their size.

Sorry but this shop gets 1 star from me — there are some good TK Maxx stores in Ayrshire but Linwood is a pit. I used to shop here out of desperation sometimes as it was slim pickings for stores near where I lived, but the merchandise is not well organized or in good condition. Worst of all the customer service is awful.
I finally gave up on the place completely when I bought a lamp that turned out to be broken and had to argue with the crazy manager type person that I hadn’t broken it myself! The same woman snapped at everyone I saw her deal with and clearly was in the wrong job. She was super rude to me once when I asked for a price check on some sheets that were not clearly labelled, it was wierd but I think she was implying that I was trying to get a clearance price on a normally priced item. Anyway, skip this particular maxx but definitely do the mega-​store in Ayr which has a nice café and HUGE selection, or try Kilmarnock which is surprisingly well stocked with homewares and has excellent customer service.

Tkmaxx is great if your looking for somewhere to wander around for a bit and hopefully grab a bargain. This is one of the bigger stores compared to othe tkmaxx that I have been too and always has a good regular update of new stock. You can get anything here from shampoo to shoes to clothes and toys so there is something for everyone. The range of womenswear is pretty good, somtimes I wont see anything I like but other times if you have a good look you can see loads. Staff are friendly and helpful and checkouts can sometimes get busy but always go down pretty quickly. The range of homeware in this store has recently vastly improved and they are now selling prints and canvases which they never done before. Overall a great store if your looking for a bargain.
