Popped in here after a day exploring Paisley’s sights as part of Renfrewshire’s Doors Open Day. There’s a decent sized car park and a nice beer garden at the entrance, which was busy as it was a sunny day. Housed in the original Paisley Canal railway station building, the interior is quite large, but divided into the bar area, dining area and a function room. We were hungry so we got a booth in the dining area, which wasn’t busy as it was still early evening. The menu features pizzas, burgers and various main meals. I ordered the goats cheese and Mediterranean vegetable burger, which came with a pot of fries and some pickled vegetables. The service was quick — we had our food about 10 minutes after ordering. The brioche bun was tasty and lightly toasted and the melted hunk of goats cheese layered on top of chunky courgette and peppers made for a different take on the usual pub veggie burger and a nice change. At £8.95 I felt it was a bit overpriced though. My other half thought his pizza was average but was pleased to have a BrewDog Punk IPA from the well-stocked bar to go with it.

Let me start by saying this place is OK, with better, quicker service it could even go up to a four star pub lunch! They have a new menu, that while it advertises offers aren’t available. I ordered the chicken burger which seemed pricey at £10 — certainly for Paisley. When it came, 45 minutes after it was ordered, it was actually quite nice and certainly better than a lot of other Cajun chicken burgers I’ve had. However, 45 minutes for a burger?! It wasn’t even busy. As such I won’t be returning for a Friday working lunch.

I have been once to this place food was ok but not to many choices of meals. Don’t think I will be going back. Food lacked of taste and the menu was poor. Prices for what they served was over priced. Needless to say it will be the first and last time I dine there.

This is the only place in Paisley I am brave enough to venture to. Slightly classier than most places & is just off the cycle route do it’s a nice quiet spot. They have Cool décor & comfy seating(with 4 seater booths) There are music videos on playing great music from modern pop to Fine young Canibals. I think the food here is pretty decent & the service is always efficient. The staff are well spoken & friendly. My favourite is the sea bass followed by an array of burgers. I also really like the black pudding & mash dish with a red wine sauce. Full bar & they sell Caruan gin with Apple garnish mmmm Nice wee classy place in Paisley were you can go as a group for a drink or take your family out for lunch. High chairs available.

Two stars and a short but sweet review. I’ve been to Canal Station before and its been good but this wasn’t my best experience. I’m gluten free and pub based restaurants can be high on the gluten containing ingredients so I always check. I don’t always expect the waiting staff to know about the ingredients but the kitchen should as this should be basic training. Unfortunately my request was met with ‘I’m really sorry but the Chef doesn’t have a clue’ and I was offered boiled rice! So, I had a baked potato instead(meh and not great) and resolved to have my girly lunches in Paisley elsewhere.

Awesome place! I go for the vegetarian fajita’s and stay for the atmosphere: d. The Atmosphere is pretty laid back… Would recommend to folks going on a date/pre-club drinks and friends looking for a relaxing evening.

Canal Station is a slick addition to the Paisley social scene. Perhaps a little too slick, however. Based on the site of the old Canal Street railway station, the pseudo-style bar has special offers on cocktails, stylish couches and jazz nights meaning it does, at least, bring something fresh to the area. Nevertheless, as I’m sure you can imagine when I tell you this place used to be a Beefeater Steak House, it is vast, with tables well spread out resulting in a slightly sterile atmosphere. Indeed the whole establishment is a little too polished for my liking, although it did redeem itself with its excellent, albeit slightly over-priced, food. A Scottish burger(with haggis) and a pint was well over a tennner, although the quality was more of a restaurant standard than a pub. Worth a visit, particularly if you find yourself at the nearby railway station.

This was my first visit to canal station. I believe it’s recently been refurbed and changed ownership. There’s plenty of private parking available. The décor was quite modern and nice to relax in before going to your table. The service was fantastic, almost instantaneous, although admittedly the place was quite quiet. I ordered steak pie and my partner lasagne, the food took a while to come but this is by no means a complaint as usually this means that its fresh and a bit of effort has been put into making it, and this was the case here. The steak in the steak pie was lovely and the lasagne was definetly home made, which was a nice change from reheat frozen crap you sometimes get elsewhere. Both portions were generous. Staff were welcoming and the prices were very reasonable, i’d have no problems recommending this place and i will definetly visit again sometime soon.

My friend and I visited the new bar and restaurant Canal Station in Paisley this weekend, and had such a good time that I felt the need to let people know about it. It’s just a couple of minutes walk from Canal Street train station where the old Platform 1 was. There’s a good sized bar area featuring a very long and well stocked bar which has a nice selection of wines. On one side of the bar you can go through to the little snug area which would be really nice for private functions whereas the other side takes you through to the restaurant, conservatory and outdoors to the beer garden which is a good size and I imagine it would be a bit of a suntrap if we are ever blessed with any sun. There are lots of comfy sofas around at the bar, upon which my friend and I plonked ourselves down on while we sipped on our cocktails Cosmopolitans being our tipple of choice a la Carrie and co. Being naturally nosey, I also noticed a flyer promoting 2 for 1 cocktails on Thursday nights from 5−8pm so guess where I’ll be after work next Thursday! We were feeling a bit on the peckish side so we decided to order some snacks from the Small Dishes menu 3 tapas dishes for £10 which I thought was quite good value. We tried the Spicy Spanish Sausage, Spanish Black Pudding and the Garlic and Chilli Mushrooms, all of which were generous in size and delicious. Overall I was really impressed with Canal Station’s lovely décor, friendly staff and great food. The tapas dishes gave me a taste of what to expect from the restaurant so I’ll definitely be booking a table very soon!
