My favourite place for something a bit different.
Had the King scallops with celeriac, black pudding, lotus root crisps and white truffle.
I judge all establishments on how they do the scallops. — win.
For the main it was slow braised chicken in red wine, garlic creamed potatoes, bacon and mushroom. The chicken was very tender and flavoursome. Enjoyed the surrounding items too.
For desert we had sticky date pudding and I had dark chocolate insanity.
Apologies to the chef for my editorial freewheeling on the descriptions.
The food is very good, the staff and lots of fun and I really like the sporting schtick (which isn’t intrusive).
It was Halloween night and we had a splendid time. I believe that they do a special steak night on Wednesday.

Great place to stop for a drink on the patio, or an elegant plate of food. If you’re cycling the path along the A40 between Oxford and Witney, you can’t miss it. The cycle track (bike path) is away from the highway here, though, so it’s nice and quiet among the trees. Friendly staff.
