Trying to be a Oxford tourist I came here. The layout was a little difference since when you first walk in on looks like a cluttered shopping store more than a restaurant. There was not a lot of people there so I assumed fast service. My waiter was not very attentive and even saw me flag her down once and she kept it moving, um ok? O order a very peachy Bellini which was good and small. I then ordered the poached salmon fish cake which I found a little bland and dos not like the fact that it was coated in sesame seeds. Being unsatisfied I ordered a Shiraz to mend my feelings and a side salad. With the salad I asked to have a few slices of lemon and what was given to me was 2 slices cut into small little strip. Wth? How am I supposed to squeeze the juice out of these tiny things?! How cheap. Don’t think I’d return.

Hands down the best food I’ve had in 9 weeks in the UK. Creative, tasty, great presentation … I’m hooked. I’ll remember this for a long time. The corn cakes had the right combination of ingredients to make it melt in your mouth. The chicken satay special … Couldn’t get enough. Kudos to the chef!

Perfect location(not far from the bus station). Great décor, good service, food at decent prices, the only downfall is that they were out of most of the things in the menu — I was craving for char grilled steak and chocolate brownies but settled for rib eye steak and pecan pie. My food was cooked well and was served quiet nicely. I will definitely visit again.

Waited forever for everything. Couldn’t get attention to order or get my bill which I had to ask for three times. Sweet potato fries were ok but portions of everything were very small. Be warned their«optional» service charge isn’t optional.

Went with the family, four adults, two children under twelve. Some food restrictions, veg and low glycemic… Excellent server, fun environment. Kids enjoyed brownie shakes, lots of good starters to keep the munchies at bay– hummus and heirloom tom salad. Kids menu worked great. Adult food was very good, casual dining well priced.

Endroit très sympa pour le petit déj/brunch. Le service est parfait, et souriant, le lieu est original et cosy, le pain et les pancakes sont bons et le chocolat bien fourni en crème. On n’a pas testé le reste, mais la carte donne envie de revenir!

Started with chips and dip and then had the mac and cheese as recommended mostly because I was afraid to try something else. The food was good and everyone in my group was pleased. I had the eaton mess for dessert and while it was good it was simply too much cream and merengue for me and not enough strawberries.

Nice décor, reminiscent of a saloon in the American West. We ordered the mac and cheese and the monkfish stew. The mac and cheese was amazing, and I know my mac and cheese. The portion didn’t look that big when it came, but it was densely packed underneath those panko bread crumbs. There was gooey cheese, leeks, mushrooms, spianch maybe. I was full. I am less enthused about the monkfish stew, which as the previous commenter mentioned, is sparse on the monkfish. There might’ve been three pieces of fish in the whole thing. Eventually you were left with excess stew and not enough bread to sop it up. Elderflower fizz for a drink.

Had the vegetarian breakfast and scrambled eggs. My poached eggs were almost cold, bubble and squeak and mushrooms were luke warm. Nice idea for a vegetarian breakfast combo with hummus spread on one piece of toast and guacamole on another but not the best execution of a dish. I was told the scramblers were«ok». This new branch of Bills will be a hit before too long I’m sure. The ambiance of the place is very airy and relaxing. Unfortunately, the food on my visit didn’t quite match the attention put into the décor. Still I have high hopes for Bills.

Decidedly average. A cross between Jamie’s and Carluccio’s. Not as good as either. The service was OK but I don’t like serving staff that interrupt conversations rather than coming over and waiting to be spoken to, or even just saying excuse me rather than launching into what they have to say. I had the liver pâté to start and it was nice but the bread was very think slices of french bread that had been heavily toasted so it just crumbled when I tried to spread paté on it. My main was the burger which itself was fine but there was no mayonnaise in it(contrary to the menu) and the waitress didn’t believe me when I said there wasn’t — I had to show her. The burger bun was cold and the chips came in a silly enamel bucket. They were at best lukewarm. A friend had the monkfish stew which he said was nice but rather sparse on monkfish! Desserts were fine — I had the Eton mess which was very tasty if a bit of a small portion. This restaurant is fine but I’m not sure it will compete in Oxford. There is much better in Oxford for the same amount of money or less.
