My Korean cohorts brought me here — they know I’m always jones-ing for Korean food. Lots of selections on the menu. I ordered beef bibimbap, and when it arrived it was served sizzling in its traditional bowl. The rice crisped up quite nicely in the bowl, and the flavor was great. Our bibimbap came with a light miso soup. I was surprised that there were only two banchan(small side plates) offered to our whole table — I’m used to three, five, or even seven plates in other places. We also had to request kimchee, which really should have been one of the banchan… They do get good marks because we mentioned we were in a bit of a rush, and our orders came quickly. Not bad for a busy Oxford Sunday afternoon(which also happened to be race day, so when I say it was busy, I mean, it was busy!). I’ll definitely return to sample more from the menu.

I was really happy to find a korean place in Oxford. But Korean food is hard to do. I had high expectations which was probably my problem. First, they don’t give a bunch of free sides that much Korean places do. They gave us two sides, one weird jelly thing(I wouldn’t eat it again if they paid me) and bean sprouts. No Kimchi??? really? We ordered some BBQ, bimbimbap and Soon Du Bu with kimchee on the side. The BBQ was good but were pretty small. We ordered a pork belly, that is okay and the Korean short ribs that were better. It didn’t come with lettuce so we had to order that too. The bimbimbap was good and I would order it again, but there aren’t many ways you can mess that up. The Soon Du Bu was okay. It was pretty watery and lacking in some flavor but I still found it comforting to eat. The Kimchee was bad! Like really really bad, like it left a bitter taste in my mouth instead of a bright vinegar taste. Don’t order it. If we come back, it would most likely be at lunch for their lunch special. It might be better than.

A fairly extensive menu for a Korean restaurant in a small English town. I had the sundubu jjigae which was warming and tasty, not the most flavorful of soups but good ingredients. The service was very quick and the prices were reasonable. I even got a couple free side dishes which never happens in this country. The food wasn’t amazing but it was a nice alternative to pub grub.
