A nice local pub. Not really into the Sunday carvery thing(bit ugh tbh) but a pleasant place to come for a drink. I saw that they offer Black Rock Grill, intrigued by this, perhaps I might try if I ever get to finish early enough at work on a Thurs or Friday!

Great pub and really friendly, nothing is to much trouble for them. Our band rehearse there every Tuesday night and are made to feel really welcome. We order some bar type food off them and it is always really good and tasty, well done Ron Ian, Jackie, John, Anita, Tracy, Phil, Ade, Keith and Terry the buffet slayer.

The food was great, I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and the trio of desserts were amazing. The atmosphere in this pub was great, a real community feel and so well decorated. The staff were all really friendly and made you feel like you could ask anything. In conclusion I will definately be going there again!!!

An excellent Pub in a very lovely town, the pub dates back, at a guess, some 400 years, the town, Ottery St Mary, to the time of the Domesday book, or further back. The Landlord and Landlady are charming Mine Hosts, and there is always a friendly welcome from them, the staff, and the locals. Excellent draft beers and real ales, with a good local beer Otter, and a small selection of guest beers. The food is excellent, and copious. A classic pub, with all the usual bar games, and a regular quiz night. Not to be missed when you are in East Devon.

New managers are changing the tired interior they told us and its a great venue. Fantasic food from the landlady who was really warm and friendly. This is a genuine family run place as hubby and lovely son were also behind the bar to help and were equaly as friendly and entertaining. Met some great locals who told us all about the towns tradition or running with a burning barrell of tar. This place could become a focal point for the town. No music licence at the moment though apparentlywhich I though was a crying shame as the town needs a bit of life I think from my short but exellent stay in the area. Fantastic place. I look forward to returning and wish them success.
