Nothing special. The sort of place that I romanticised in my student days as «keeping it real». Ok if you like smashed-​up washbasins in the toilets and that kinda thing.

A firm old favourite of mine and my mates from our time at college and uni.
This pub is part of the «Scream» chain so if you get your hands on a «yellow card» (£1 for students which is valid for a year) you can get some good discounts on beers.
Great beer and burger deal from 3PM-​8PM most days and they usually show major sporting events on various TV screens and projectors in the pub. There is a mezzanine level with an itbox and a few pool tables too. Plenty of comfy seating around the pub.
Secret bar upstairs opened up when busy which can make this a pretty large pub… upstairs is definitely worth a visit if open!

This is the typical Rock City pre bar in town, as such it is quite rock based itself, the staff are in the traditional garb, tattooed to the hilt with ear plugs that kinda thing. The music here also fits in with the rock/​alt genre typically.
It’s not bad in here, it’s a scream bar so you pay a pound or something for a card and get cheaper drinks, as I recall its about £2.30 a pint.
There isn’t much outstanding about this bar, it’s not fancy, traditional light wood everywhere, it has an upstairs, fairly roomy but people really do come here to drink, and drink they do.
Worth a go for a cheap drink before Rock City, but no-one’s really going to come here for a night out!

This large pub is part of the Scream chain, and so you can use your discount ‘Yellowcard’ in this pub as well to save money off all your drinks. There are three floors, the top floor sometimes has music and tv nights, so there’s always something happening. It’s great to come here on a Thursday, as cocktails are £2.50, so pre-​drink before going to Rock City or Stealth. They also do nice food and sometimes have 2 for 1 offers.
