lovely choice of ales and beer, big beer garden. only pronlem is the staff can be distracted serving food and you may have to wait 5mins to be served.

A sprawling, low-ceilinged affair. The beery focus is on Elgoods, and there are certainly some less common offerings from the brewery. There are also five unused handpumps, which is a bummer to see. Friendly barman. OK value. Free wifi. Quiet on a Tuesday afternoon. Not a must-visit, but worth a short stop if you’re after some obscure Elgoods.

Classy looking interior, intimate low lighting. A good eclectic mix of beverages on tap. For me the Brooklyn Brewery larger is a stand out, though despite having branded glasses for it they always server it in a Verdet straight pint. Maybe I have the face of a pint glass thief. truth be told I took home the Verdet one out of desperation. Jokes. It is the busy night when it’s less enjoyable to go here. They could do with a few more bodies behind the bar on these nights, even just so they can wipe the bar a bit more regularly. Lean on the bar as it is and you’ll spend the rest of your night drying your saturated shirt sleeves with the hand dryers in the loos. Have been in many times now and quite enjoy popping in for a swifty on the way home from work when it’s quiet. It’s a little treat to sit in the warmth on one of the pews by the window, glass of Brooklyn in hand watching the folk wander down Dereham Road.

This pleasant looking place turned out to be probably my favourite pub of a weekend in Norwich. That is a high accolade indeed, given the competition. Nice laid back feel to the inside, and some excellent beers to enjoy(about 8 different ones) I had to select my 2nd favourite named beer of the trip(after Goatbusters from the same brewers) — Elgoods The Wonderful Lizard of Oz. It is a bit of a foodie place, that is true. Just drinking doesn’t seem in any way discouraged mind you. Personally we stuck to curried and beetrooted pickled eggs rather than brave some of the harshly carnivorous items we found on the menu — such as Duck Hearts on Toast or Crispy Pigs Ears! Crazy stuff.

Recently reopened under new management. Lost some of it’s atmosphere, very quiet at the moment. Still good selection of Elgoods beer though.
