Thorns is a wonderful hardware shop in the centre of Norwich. It consists of a warren of rooms and the selection of stock is fantastic. The staff are really helpful and know exactly what they have in stock … which happens to be just about everything!
If you want anything in the hardware/​DIY line, this is your shop, you won’t find anywhere better anywhere in the country.

A great store set over many levels.
If it’s DIY or some other home improvement you’re bound to find it here.
They sell spray paint to glue for glue guns.
They offer discount to students spending more the five pounds.
The staff are really helpful and are very focused on meeting your needs.
It’s great to support such a good local business and it’s the only shop of it’s kind in the city centre.

I think this is jsut what norwich needs, a nicely run small DIY/​ironmongers. The store is over 2 levels and holds everything from letter boxes to hack saws. The gentlemen in store behind the desks are uniformed and very helpful. Located within 5 mins walk from the bus station.

This shop opposite Jarrolds on Exchange street is like a rabbit warren! Wherever you turn there is another door leading to another room or some more stairs leading to another floor!
Everywhere you look you will see that this is a proper traditional ironmongers store selling a full range of hardware items. There is everything from nails and screws to shovels and garden vacs and barbecues.
Thorns sell cleaning items and decorating products too — in fact they sell almost everything (or so it seems!).
The staff are well trained in customer service and if you cannot find what you are looking for the just ask them and they will soon point you in the right direction.
It is nice to see a traditonal hardware store remain on the high street, and this one cannot be beaten.

a very old fashioned iron mongers/​diy store. has been part of norwich for years. one of only a couple of places within city centre you can go get your diy home improvement items without having to go to big superstores on outskirts. very helpful staff is place you can go buy 1 screw 1 washer etc.

Whether you want a handful of nails, a pot of paint, or the necessary items for a bigger project in the house or garden, the staff at Thorns will help you find exactly what you need. Nothing is too much trouble for these people, and customer service is second to none.
As you would expect from a traditional ironmongers, this shop is cramped as it is filled with bits and pieces — but if you don’t have the time to search for what you are looking for, just ask a member of staff, and if necessary they will order in for you.
Hardware, paint, brushes, ornaments, nails, screws, cleaning products, you name it, it is probably there!
