The Windhover

I used to come here pretty regularly, but unfortunately the service really seems to have gone downhill. We waited two hours, whilst waiters played on their phones and food sat on the bar for our main course and I truly am shocked at their incompetency to deal with the Saturday night time rush most restaurants should come to expect.
The drinks menu was limited, with strange variations on cocktails only available, a cosmopolitan was not, a long Cosmo was, so I opted for that.
After first denying it was on the menu I was served a badly mixed cocktail, with no straws in the vicinity and no martini glasses either. I accepted this. It isn’t London after all.
After ordering straight away we received our very simple starters after half hours wait, wolfing them down as we were starving, they were gone in under five minutes leaving us to wait over another hour and a half for the main. By the time it was served the table next to us had left refusing to pay the bill and we had been told two meals and a round of drinks would not have to be paid for.
This was not adequate, and it really was a shame as the food was good if a little cold, but maybe my kindness comes from the second Complimentry cosmo.
Really hope they pull up their socks, food could be so much better if they got it out faster.

This used to be my favourite location for business lunches, however recently the ‘overall experience’ has slipped due to staff attitudes, lack of staff serving and ques at the bar.
Don’t get me wrong the food is good.
However negatives aside it remains good pub food with a good menu, reasonably priced, friendly (most of the time), and a good overall atmosphere.

Food okay, location nice, pub itself nice but the waitress was one of the rudest I have ever met. I asked for a large sweet sherry for my mother-​in-​law and the waitress snapped we only have one kind and one size. Fine, I then ordered food and wasn’t aware of the system and as I started to ask the waitress explained how she only had one pair of hands. I should have really walked out and went elsewhere. Would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the waitress. If the owners read this she was middle aged and English.

Visited this put recently, the food was very nice, with plenty of choice, the pub is comfortable and well maintained what you would expect from a pub chain.
Before we visited I registered on their website as a friend, this gave us a voucher for 2 courses for £9.00, which kept the cost down. We will definitely visit again.
They also have a very nice outside garden area although there are lots of wasps.
