Avoid! Brought some sofas in June last year from the Sofa King showroom, the sofas looked great and the price was excellent, however after only 6 months the ‘leather’ on the sofas has started to crack and also one of the seats seems to have collapsed, My last leather suite lasted more than 10 years! Despite numerous attempts at contacting ‘The Sofa King’ and getting this resolved I seem to be getting nowhere. I will be contacting trading standards as these sofas are far from fit for purpose and the level of service has been disgusting, don’t be duped like me, my experience does seem to prove if something is too good to be true more often than not it is. A very disappointed customer!

Im not one for reviews normally but this store is something else! The prices are stupidly low. We bought a leather sofa for £299. Premuim leather in dark brown. the same sofa is being sold in Homebase for £999.99. They grade there stock so mine was a C grad which means it had a small mark at the side. When i say small it was tiny the size of a half penny(if you remember them!). They delivered it the next day as well for £15. I got chatting to The King himself and he explained they rely on a massive turnover of stock to keep selling stock so cheaply. On average they sell 400 sofas a month. Which I can believe. there was a Que to pay for stuff. The sectret is to read the terms and conditions poster when you get in, it saves time as your instructed to read this before you can buy something. Then its who ever gets the ticket on the item first so its kind of fun shopping especially as the stuffs so cheap. One chap I met in the café next door(great for a coffee if you have to travel far) had bought a 3 beds, a leather reclining 3 piece suite, rugs and a dressing table for less than £1000. He said the actual value of the stuff was more like £3000. I also joined There Facebook site thing where you have to ‘like’ the page in order to see live stock updates. It says the stock is changed every 20mins, they take a photo and put it on facebook as it helps customers that cant make daily visits to see the new stuff. Basicly thats what its for and it works! They seem to get new lorrys in daily, the next day i saw a lorry of footstools had arrived which they were selling for £89 instead of £199. Next day i popped in and bought two of these. Justin(The manager) said they were end of lines which meant a company nolonger sold them so The sofa king bought all the old stock. They really seemed to have sussed out what customers want. Something at a bargain cant be beaten price, something you can try before you actually buy it and that excact item being what you buy and ending up in your home the next day! If only all shops were like this! Keep it up and ill be back for a bed next pay day! David Harvey( )

This shop has another branch nearby off the main High Street, more of a small warehouse in St Katherine’s Street. The stock is a selection of the same lines as stocked by argos/elsewhere but with a good discount on their prices. This store also delivers at a reasonable price(I think £35 to the local area). I was going to buy a sofa from this store but saw another one I liked better. However would recommend looking at this store if require a sofa/furniture and on a set budget. Mainly leather sofas available and stock lines do vary. Business advertises offers each week in the front cover of the Friday-Ad.
