This is my current local in Northampton and I usually visit about 2 or 3 times a week. It has a very grand exterior and the internal décor lends itself to that of a typical ‘old mans pub’ which is not a put down in my opinion. From the framed cigarette cards on the wall to the copious amounts of brass, the Pickering is perfect for a drink with friends or watching the football on the weekend. It does get busy when the big games are being shown but this adds to the atmosphere. Drinks prices could be considered as relatively high by some and it can be quite claustrophobic when full but otherwise a very decent pub.
