Not one of the best restaurants but not the worst. The selection of food was limited with targines and grills being the highlight. If you expect a quiet evening at ocko, prepare to be disappointed as the main entertainment was belly dancing with extremely loud backing music. With some of our party joining in the fun, it was a great past time event to distract you from the foods late arrival. Overall an entertaining night but the food was average. It didn’t help that they charged over £1 a jug if water! Would go again but only as part if a big group in winter.

This review is straight from the heart as I sit here contemplating the dining experience I have just had at the Ocko Restaurant, Northampton which promotes Moroccan and Lebanese food. Well, at a price of £25 per head and now seriously considering a late night takeaway less than 2 hours later, this really sums up the night. The food(or lack of it) was poor giving you an idea of the basement dining experience which was cold, dark, badly painted surroundings with averagely inattentive staff. More Eastern European than Moroccan in terms of general experience, if we’re being completely honest. Seriously avoid this restaurant if you enjoy food. 2 out of 10. Brace yourself for an evening of overpriced disappointment, other than the full sized camel in the window which is the nearest this restaurant gets to authenticity!

We visited Ocko for a works leaving do late last year and were all very impressed with the setting. We ate downstairs in a room that certainly felt very Moroccan with lots of dark wood, rugs and cushions. We were served a set platter of what I would described as ‘taster’ foods which were excellent and then our main courses which had all be pre-chosen. The best bit of the night for me was when the belly dancer came out as she got us all up and playing with the instruments etc. The only downside would be that I know a few of the group who had had the chicken kebab main course weren’t well the next day.
