Park Inn by Radisson York

Clean, modern hotel near local historic sites, enabling us to walk easily to see them. Good service, nice restaurant with included buffet breakfast, both continental and English. Air conditioning and river view.
No complaints!

CHOPPY HOTEL HOTEL, LOUSY PARKING, TERRIBLE RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE
Stayed here two nights. The layout of this hotel is very linear, with a lot of walking involved depending on where your room is. In addition, the parking garage has no interior elevator, so you have to go outside the garage, walk along the exterior of the hotel, and then back in the hotel again.
The check-​in staff could definitely have been a lot friendlier, but being an American in Yorkshire country for the first time, perhaps that’s the way the people of York are.
The most disappointing thing was the dinner I had at the main restaurant. The wait staff was so incredibly incompetent… I had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes to be seated, another 5 to 10 minutes to get a menu, another 15 to 20 minutes before having my order taken. Mind you, this is a small restaurant with only 10 or so tables, and the place was only about ²⁄₃ full. AND there were at least 4 to 5 wait staff present.
The food was not good. I asked for my burger to be medium rare, and it came out well done. I called the manager over to ask for it to be recooked, and she said they were not allowed to cook it medium rare. (I now recall that it might have something to do with mad-​cow disease.) Why in the world the waiter who took my order did not say anything at the time is beyond me, as I certainly would have ordered something else, because I cannot abide by overcooked meat.
Overall, I did not feel like I had a positive Radisson hotel experience. Too bad, because everything else about York is so great!

Stayed at the Park inn for a break in york October last year (2013), The hotel is in a great prime location 5 min walk from train station and 5 min walk into york centre, but the hotel room i stayed in was a bit shaby for the money paid, curtains were dusty and had white mark’s on them, floor had a few stain’s on, plastic covered bedside lamp shades, ceiling had brown blotches of water marks and spot light by toilet door not working. The room had old patio doors and every noise from outside could be heard. Was put off from having breakfast here after reading previouse trip adviser comments. plus side the bed was comffy and view over river was good .York itself is amazing!!!
