I’ve always enjoyed the food here, but rarely had a chance to visit. Recently, however, I’ve found myself eating here at least once a week and I’m gradually working my way around the menu. I’ve not had a bad dish so far, the ingredients have been pretty much as I expected for the location and price range, so far the most notable dish has been the buttermilk pancakes with bacon. Having just spent some time on New York, I can say that these are well up to the standard you would get in any NY diner and(unusually for the UK) come with a decent amount of maple syrup. The only thing that could be done to improve the dish would be to make it with crisped streaky bacon rather than the usual English cut, but that’s a minor point. Seven extra lbs probably indicates I did a little too much«research» on the subject. One thing I do find slightly odd in a café named for a famous landmark in Brazil and featuring so many pictures of Rio is that they don’t seem to be offering any Brazilian inspired dishes. Dishes tried so far: English Breakfast(with white toast) Eggs Benedict Breakfast Stack Brunch Muffin Buttermilk Pancakes French Toast with Bacon Sugarloaf Burger Sugarloaf Vegi-Burger(late lunch & they’d run out of burgers) Sugarloaf Hot Dog Fine Steak Sandwich Caesar Salad Spicy Chicken Fillet Burger(a daily special)
