We had a family Sunday dinner here and we all had a lovely meal. On arrival i was impressed with the stylish décor and the fact that you can see the chefs working away from the kitchen hatch. They have a decent selection on the Sunday menu with the traditional roast of the day(which I think was goat). We had all the trimmings and everyone was happy with the portion size and service. They have entertainment on at times and cocktail making classes. Very good value. Handy having a car park across the road too.

Great bar and grill! Just located off the main street of Hollywood and a stone throw away from the train station it’s pretty well centred. Food in here is top notch and kids eat free on a Sunday, which is a great bonus for me and the family. The drinks they serve are almost endless, loads of choice for the beer lover on draught and craft beer! Gin menu available, cocktails huge selection of whiskies and wine. The staff are great and very friendly, even the doormen who aren’t ‘bouncers’ they are actual professional doormen, which is very rare. Can’t wait for my next visit. If your looking good food at reasonable prices or a few of your favourite drinks this is the spot to visit in Hollywood.

Tates has a different feel to other bars in the area. Bringing a more classy, cocktail style to Holywood to compete against the more«local» feeling alternatives. With food available, a dj at tye weekends and a vast array of cocktails on the menu, tates is a great lace for a group to go. Spacious enough that you are not knocking in to others and plenty of room at the bar to get served. Although this is not my favourite bar in Holywood, I can see why it is popular to others. If you do stop in, id recommend the dark and stormy

I’ve been to Tates a handful of times now, and I can’t fault the place! Whether you fancy a meal, or just some cocktails, Tates is great. I had their fillet steak which was cooked medium-rare to PERFECTION! It was delicious. What was particularly good was that we could have our meal in the designated restaurant area, then move around to the bar side of the venue to enjoy some cocktails… feeling like we had gone to a different place without having to go outside. It was the full package of a night out! They have a nice, sheltered smoking platform out the front with patio heaters. Tates is very handy to Holywood train station. Making it very easy to hop on the train from where I am in Bangor, have a good time and not need a designated driver or fork out for taxis. The décor is lovely, nice and new! The toilets are also decorated well and kept very clean. The doormen are particularly friendly and always hold the door open for you :) a nice touch!

If you are looking for some yummy cocktails but don’t want to venture into the bright lights of the city, Tates is the place for you. Replacing The Platform, Tates opened up a few years back to add some life to Holywood. Since then it has taken off and become one of the regular watering holes for locals. The décor is modern and glam, with the central bar gleaming with shiny bottles of joy. The bar also has an area reserved for diners which looks nice. I haven’t had the opportunity to sample the food but I’ve heard good things and will update if I ever go. The only points that let Tates down for me are: 1. They reduced the cocktail menu substantially from the original(they probably make anything but the menu was full of good ideas) 2. I miss the train carriages that formed part of the platform.

Tates is what used to the The Old Platform bar located handily on Hibernia Street in Holywood. You might not be aware of Tates’s existence but you should be. The whole building has had a facelift creating an inviting, stylish bar and grill. The interior of Tates is really tastefully decorated, not too flashy but managing to create a sense of elegance with its carefully placed down lighting. They offer a wide range of drinks including a full cocktail menu. I popped in for a drink after getting off the train the other evening and was pleasantly surprised but the array of drinks on offer. Unfortunately I haven’t eaten in Tates yet although I plan to very soon. This wee bar is ideally located just off the train and if you’re heading on to Holywood’s High Street I would recommend you make this your first stop. I lovely addition to Holywood’s restaurant and bar scene.
