Carbs carbs and more carbs — magnifico! First time visiting the venue and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Traditionally cosy and welcoming — just as all Italian restaurants should be. To start, our party shared a bruscetta, which came as a very generous portion. I usually find this isn’t the case and restaurants can be a little stingy with bread, but there was plenty to go around for four people. The bruscetta itself was gorgeous — really tasty bread and plenty of olive oil! For a main I tried the tagliatelle salmone. I had expected the salmon to be cooked through, but it arrived uncooked on top of the pasta. This wasn’t a bad thing, as it was sublime! If you’re not a fan of very heavy, creamy pasta, stay away! You might have guessed of course that heavy, creamy pasta is one of my all time favourite things. My only regret? Failing to finish the whole plate. I have been defeated. I’m not a fan of sweet wines, so ordering rose is always a risk for me, but I’d highly recommend the pinot grigio on the wine list — exceptionally crisp, fresh and dry. The only disappointment I had was ending up so full I couldn’t face ordering dessert. I’m holding out for next time.

Wow. unless I was catching this lot on a bad day, I’m not sure why my experience was a bit at odds with previous visitors. the food was bland and without character, with two basic pasta dishes, even the bread seemed a bit feeble, and overpriced for the quality. on the plus side the staff were friendly and attentive, but I won’t be bothering again, and it’s put me off trying the other branches.

Part of the La Vita family of Italian restaurants this place is a decent, inexpensive local eatery. We went on a whim for a late lunch /early dinner. The restaurant is kind of split in two by a partitioning shelf unit. One half was heaving with just one table for two while the other half was practically empty. For whatever reason they seated us in the least appropriate little table in the busiest half. meaning that before our drinks had arrived I had been bum and hip swiped on a number of occasions as I perused the menu. When the drinks came a second member of the serving staff took sensible pity on us and moved us to a far superior table round the other side. So that was a plus. We ordered from the set menu both which was fairly inexpensive. I think it was tenner for two courses roughly. I had bruschetta peperonata to start and a pepperoni pizza. I wasn’t blown away by the food and not tempted to have a dessert — basically it was OK. The table swapping was very much appreciated. The staff are all pretty pleasant and the guy who appears to be top dog does meander round making sure everything is fine with your meal and chats to regulars. I like the place without being super excited by it, so I’d give it a 3.5 if I could. As it is, it’s been rounded up to 4.

This is a great place. I was going to say a great wee place but it’s really not that wee. The menu is a great fusion of Italian and Scottish ingredients and recipes. Now, when I say ‘fusion’ I don’t mean the mish-mash way of just chucking random ingredients from differing cuisines and hoping for the best. They’ve used them in the most natural settings. Black pudding and haggis on pizza, haggis lasagna, tablet or macaroon ice-cream. Lovely stuff. The only downside is I found it a bit cramped. It’s got a fair amount of floor space and they seem to have filled every inch of it with tables and chairs. I heard on very warm days they open the entire front side window(which is on an accordian type folding frame to give the place an al fresco feel. I will definitely go again(it’s less than 5 mins drive from home). I should also point out it’s part of a chain of several Italian restaurants in Glagsow.

A review update as we ordered delivery from here recently, one lazy weeknight. I’d decided on lobster ravioli which unfortunately they couldn’t do gluten free but I went with it anyway. I can’t remember what Graeme ordered — most likely some kind of sausage pasta. We also got a garlic bread to share. I think we had to pay a few pounds for delivery as the bill was about £20. The food arrived within 20 minutes — impressive seeing as it’s a 5 minute drive from our house and they’d told us 30 minutes at least. The food was piping hot and delicious. My pasta came with rocket which tasted awful, you know how sometimes it is really bitter? It was really easy to pick off though so no harm done. The sauce and ravioli were delicious, creamy and a really generous serve so I was able to save the leftovers for lunch the next day. I think the last time we ordered takeaway for delivery was some time in 2011, so we’re not pros at this kind of thing. I’d rather go our for a meal. But this place had a great take away service so I suspect we’ll be using them again in the future.

Been here a couple of times, felt I should contribute, especially in terms of fairness to redress the balance. Like another reviewer, I’ve had the excellent pre-theatre/lunch menu and found it superb value for money. My children love pasta and the bolognese went down very well — couldn’t help but try some myself — very authentic. For the record, the kids menu is also good value at £5.95 with 2 courses and a drink included. On another occasion we went for my birthday — I’d recommend when booking to ensure you avoid tables near the bar — ours was actually blocking the entrance to the disabled toilet which was off putting — they lose a star for that alone. Whilst there is an element of pack ‘em in here, its worth putting up with for delicious Italian food, served with typical Italian arrogant nonchalance — if you get the old fella! Recommend the fillet steak with Stornoway black pudding.
