This super new shop has opened up where Bradford’s used to be but is more sandwich/panini orientated than the former bakery(you’d never guess from the fact they have panini in the name). I popped in on Friday to check it out and had no intention of buying food but was won over by the banter of the two guys who were working here who were both awesome in terms of chat as well as service. I had a look around — not much has changed but they now have a salad bar set up in the display cabinet so you can see everything being made in front of you. Everything in the cabinet looked really fresh and well kept so that was impressed. I decided to get a baked potato and the guy went off to make it out the back. It took about 5 minutes for him to get it ready but I wasn’t in a hurry so that was fine, and it was late in the afternoon. I got it with cheese and when I got home I added some plain yoghurt as well. Here’s my tip — mozzarella does not taste good on a baked potato. I asked for both mozzarella and cheddar whereas I should have just stuck to cheddar. The potato was good, nice and hot, well cooked and the cheddar was delicious. It was £2.90 which is a pretty reasonable price although it’s been a while since I’ve had a baked potato! They are also open on a Saturday so I might swing by for a lazy lunch option rather than going up to Waitrose or The Avenue. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is that it’s a pretty basic shop with a standard menu and is a little hard to get 5-star worthy excited about. But with lovely staff and good food, I’ll definitely be returning.
