Not sure how it is for small parties but our Function Room experience was a bit rocky. When an order came out that didn’t seem to belong to anyone in our group, the manager/supervisor snidely said to the waitress standing next to us that someone ordered it and wasn’t owning up to it. He then shouted down the table demanding to know who ordered it. Turns out one of the party was at the bar at the moment the food came out, since you can’t order drinks at the table. My burger was burnt to coal and almost inedible, which was a shame because I could tell it was nice beef. I had to cut some of the sides and top off. I did not send it back for fear of the manager’s backlash. He was that intimidating. As we were finishing our meal, he came to the head of the table again and looked to see if we were done so he could have the waitresses remove the dishes. One of our party was still eating and he stood there waiting for her to finish. He claimed he wasn’t pressuring her, but he didn’t leave either. So she quickly woofed down a couple more bites and pushed her plate away. After he was gone she exclaimed that she had never been forced to finish her meal in a restaurant before. You don’t feel welcome. You feel like a burden. Not what you want when you’re trying to celebrate. Or any time!

I have just had the misfortune of eating in the above establishment. It is an experience I do not wish to repeat. My mother in law had the steak and ale pie — the pastry was only luke warm yet the meat and gravy was hot. The new potatoes and vegetables were also cold. My wife and I both had rump steak. The steaks were well cooked however the chips were luke warm and the peas and mushrooms were cold. We did not want to send back the meal to get the vegetables heated up as this would have meant that everything would be «nuked» in the microwave! The waitress however did say that she would pass on our complaint to the chef. However this seemed to have fallen on deaf ears as the couple on the next table(who received their meal after we complained to the waitress) also received cold food. I shall not be using the Ten Tors Inn/Restaurant again. As our complaint was not dealt with satisfactorily at the Ten Tors I have little option but to vent my frustration by posting my comments to warn future customers. The start was awarded for the beer — the only good thing that day!

I went here recently when I wanted some good pub food, I found this place to be very welcoming with the eating area very spacious around a real open fire. Perfect for a freezing Winter’s evening! The menu had plenty to choose from, they do light bites if you don’t want something really heavy, you can also choose from starters, pizzas, salad bowls… I chose gammon steak which was perfectly cooked and came with two free range eggs, a pineapple, chips and peas! It cost £8.75 which I thought was reasonable for such good quality food. They also have a special’s menu and of course desserts which are delicious, chocolate fudge cake, ice creams to share topped with sweets! I can’t recommend this place enough, the staff were all lovely and service was very fast.
