This little shop in village of Ashburton is one of the most appropriately named businesses I’ve come across. Tne Fish Deli is a fishmonger, a deli and a fish deli all rolled into one They sell fresh fish from sustainable stocks. They proudly display the provenance of their fish and very helpfully have recipes, which may tempt more people to try cooking. If I had some means of refrigerating the fish for my drive back to London, I might have been tempted to buy something The deli sells fine foodstuffs ranging from squid ink to snacks like satay peanuts to an interesting device for making sushi rice cubes. There was also a fresh olive bar and some interesting cookbooks for sale. A keen cook’s treasure trove. Some squid ink and satay peanuts went into my shoppping basket The fish deli counter sold homemade dipsincluding some innovative products like fish taramasalata and hummous. I got some fresh crab pâté with lime which was a yummy sandwich filling that my sister and I enjoyed for our lunches It was nice to find this little gem in a small village in Devon
