This place is now called Sergio’s. Oh dear oh dear this was a one off experience. Let me start with the positive; the chips were ok three star on a good day, also the portion was generous and the fish and chips came at under £5. The fish however was grim. The thin fish inside the awful batter was good enough quality and quite fresh but the batter was far too thick, with no salt or seasoning in the batter mix, and for every gram of fish there was about 7 grams of thick batter. I mean the outside of the batter was crisp but the batter inside was spongy. Horrible really. Food for drunks. It’s not often I buy fish & chips and I will never order fish in this place again. There was a fair bit of grease on the paper it was wrapped up in and frankly it didn’t smell great. This was our third attempt at buying fish and chips as three of us started in Dundalk and tried to sit in at the Roma café. I’ve never been before but heard good reports but there was a problem and it was take away only. Then Giovanni’s in Newry. It was shut at 7:30pm! So we ended up here. As I drove by Giovanni’s at 10pm the so and so was open.

Actually I like it, I mean it looks a bit dodgy and some of the staff would scare the bejesus out of Stalin, but the food is good, and they make the pizza in front of you(take note some other kips!) and its genuine dough not the pre packed shite. A little scary but worth it, a contender in the pizza wars of Newry
