Fairly new fish and chip shop. It was previously owned by someone else. This was my first visit. I got a very generous cod n chips for £6. The cod was pre cooked and not cooked to order from fresh, cooking to order might be an idea when not busy. The chips were made from new potatoes. The cod was very fresh and really chunky, almost perfect for me, but I would prefer a lighter batter. The owner is Italian and I’m around long enough to remember the Italian families that called this town home in the 1960’s like the Maloccas and the wonderful Scappaticci family, Frederico, Lily and Umberto. So I imagine he could produce a lighter batter easily. The chips too were perfectly cooked. The guy took time to cook the food just right and he drained off the food a while after it came out of the fryer. Sure beats the fast food burger places by a very long way.
